This is a wake up call for me! I REALLY need to call the surgeon tomorrow and schedule band removal, no matter how chicken I am about having it done. Yikes!

So happy for you that you no longer have that piece of frap in your body!!! Those 6 months are gonna fly by!!!

I had my lap band out 9/8/14. Converted to gastric bypass. I was in surgery for over 6 hours. There was so much scar tissue. The surgeon didn't think he would be able to do the conversion. He did but couldn't make my pouch the size of an egg like most people have. I'm very worried now about losing weight. He also had trouble removing my port. It had gotten imbedded somehow. It was a big mess.

It may be best that you wait and heal!

Good luck to you.

Wow, you have been through the ringer too.  I wouldn't worry about  losing weight, it will happen.  I have no doubt that the Bypass will be better for you than the band ever was.  I hope you are feeling better with your revision and just focus now on slow healthy loss.  I am glad you had the band out and were able to convert to the WLS of your choice.

Good luck to you. I had my band out too! I've also heard of some people having the band/port to embed itself and adhere to other parts of the body. Due to complications and no weight loss, it still took me 5 years to have it removed. I had scar tissue that had to be removed too. It's been 3 months now and I'm scared but ready for this to be over with.  Again good Luck!

Good luck to you too!  I am not even scared, I just hate that it couldn't be done in the same surgery... but I trust my surgeon's decision.  I would rather wait than have a botched sleeve.  It will all work out fine in due time for both of us.

I am glad you're still going to be able to have VSG....sorry you have to wait but I believe everything happens for a reason. When you have VSG you'll be completely healed & ready!

Take Care!

Many surgeons require a wait in between the two for the stomach to heal.  The risk rate goes down drastically if you do.  I had to wait 4.5 month, the surgeon requires 4-6 based on damage.  The sleeve for me was easier than the band or getting it removed.

BAND REMOVED 9-4-12-fought insurance to get sleeve and won! Sleeved 1/22/13! Five years out and trying to get that last 15 pounds back off.
