Wow, you've definitely been thru a lot.I'm glad you're on the mend. Definitely let the Dr. know what his staff is doing when he's not there, other people might be going thru the same kind of thing & he might not know about it.

It reminds me when I used to go to my regular Dr & had no problems, then when I did have a problem I ended up being seen by someone else. I had diabetes & didn't know it & based on the symptoms I gave him, he should've picked up on it. He didn't. He went by I have to wait for the blood results, it was a Friday, so no results till Monday, ended up in ICU on Sunday.

Long story short I wish I had told my original Dr that his replacement was a waste of space. Never went back to the clinic again.

Hope you get better again soon!

Omg I am so sorry for your ordeal! I've learned along the way to always trust your instincts, Drs are just humans and they screw up too. I'm so glad you are able to share your story!

How awful and scary! Glad to hear you're ok now and on the mend. March must be when he always takes vacation because he was leaving right after my surgery as well and I never saw him again.

Oh my god, Jackie - you have been through the wringer!  I agree with Chili that you should make a point of speaking with the doctor about his PAs lack of treatment/care for you.  I'm not a litigous person but the PA has set the practice up for a possible malpractice suit! The doctor would want to know about this.

I'm so glad that everything seems to have worked out OK.  I hope you can recover completely and things calm down significantly.

I 100% would speak to the surgeon -- maybe after you have taken some time as there is no need to work yourself up over that right now.  But he should know and have the opportunity to ensure the PA does not make the same mistake again.

Thank you for sharing your story!

Wow! Your story makes my aspiration pneumonia and hospitalization after my band to sleeve revision seem like a walk in the park.

I'm so sorry to hear this. What an ordeal. I'm glad you're on the mend and I'm sure you're feeling extremely fortunate and blessed right now even though you are still suffering. I remember that feeling well. Continued best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Thanks for sharing your story and I am very sorry you had these issues.  I hope there are no long term ill effects.

I think the best takeaway for future WLS patients is don't accept the word of the support staff.  If you think there is a problem, insist on getting a message to the surgeon.  I had a much less severe issue but the PA was giving me bad advice and I knew it.  Once I got a message to the surgeon, he made changes to the medications I was on.  The PA was following his general guidelines but the surgeon has the ability to make the call to go beyond his general guidelines.
