Is it possible for your body to rebel against weight loss?

Okay, look. 39lbs in 8 weeks averages out to 4.8lbs a week which IS super fast! 

I have lost 150lbs since surgery, and I lost an average of 5lbs a week in the beginning, but totally in a stair step fashion. I frequently go 2-3 weeks with no weight loss, then I drop a lot of weight at once. I never lose and often gain a few lbs the week before my period. I don't know why your doctor is concerned. You need to stick to your plan, and honestly I would not recommend increasing your calories. The weight WILL come off. You will get to a point where you completely forget the frustrating stalls and just get to enjoy being smaller.

I guess it's hard for me to see it as fast when I've lost at faster rates on various diets. I hope you're right and I can just relax about it soon. Thanks for the response.

Hey, I know it's hard. But remember, those diets were temporary. The sleeve is for forever. I have faith that if you follow the plan, you will get the weight off and you will be in a much better position to keep it off.

It's not a myth, if you read the article, it explains truely what starvation mode is. And I too believe I was in it when I was running 10-12 miles a week and lifting weights. I was ravishingly hungry, low calories consumed and high burns. And zero weightloss.  However starvation mode is not gaining weight when you are in a caloric deficit. (Which has nothing to do with what we are discussing here)

      Nothing has changed except I've increased my calories slightly from 800 to around the 1,000                                          mark and I've also increased my activity. 

Seems obvious.....go back to 800 calories until you reach goal.  Also keep in mind the last 20 pounds or so are the hardest to lose.

This is definitely a frustrating process.  Try scaling back your calories.  If that doesn't work, try the calorie or even carb cycling.  My body seems to like some variation in calories/carbs.  If I do too much of the same day after day, I don't lose.  If I have a few higher days interspersed with the lower ones, I lose better.  The weight loss does slow down a lot the closer you get to goal.  I was averaging 3 pounds a week and now I am excited when I lose a pound or two.  I don't think it's always as simple as lower calories.  The body is a complex thing and everyone is different.  You might have to experiment a little to figure out your sweet spot.  I had to raise my calories a little to start losing more consistently again.  I am currently at around 1100-1200 a day, but like I said, some days I do 900 and others 1400.

Don't believe it takes 2700 calories to maintain either.  I aim for 1200 a day to maintain and hit about 1500 some days - and have definitely stopped losing.

If you're responding to me, the reason it is supposed to take 2700 calories to maintain for me is due to my size! I'm way heavier than you are. The number of calories it takes to maintain is dependent on your body size.

Yes, it's absolutely possible that your body is working against you. My body fought me tooth and nail my entire life every time I tried to lose weight.  It was knowing that of myself that led me to the DS, and I'm glad I did.  Many VSG's have been revised to DS and RNY due to poor loss, so you're not alone here.  You're on the edge of your honeymoon period so this may be all you get.

Yeah, I could go for the whole "work your tool" cheer but I won't.  You sound like you're doing the right things.  Your body just may need more than what the VSG provides.  Before considering another surgery though, make sure you've exhausted all attempts otherwise.

I doubt my surgeon will give me a revision.  I only have about 25 pounds to goal.  Plus I really don't want to have another surgery...once was enough for me!  1,000 cals a day is probably the culprit.  I'll definitely try reducing to 800 first and if I still don't see results then I'll consider other options.  But thank you for the advice.
