http://www.modelmydiet.com/   This is a fun site that you can enter your weight in two places - before and current or current and goal - and see the difference.  You can edit the body type.  I am over 1year out and still have trouble - I bought a size 4 pants and said to my daughter, "Oh, they must be mismarked."

Oh my gosh, at over 2 years out I still have issues with this!  I frequently ask my husband to "look at that woman over there - am I bigger or smaller?'  Kind of drives him nuts, especially when he says "oh you're smaller" and I say, "No way!!!" - LOL

I agree with Gwen that pictures of you standing next to other people are the best way to get perspective.  The other thing you can do (eating disorder clinics do this) is get a giant piece of butcher paper, lay down on it, and have your wife use a marker and outline your body as close as possible.  Then stand that piece of paper up - it's a great visual!
