I don't think I'm overreacting to the pain.  I have had 3 c'sections, a hysterectomy, gallbladder out, total thyroid, both knees arthroscopied, and a spinal microdiscectomy.  This is totally different.  I would have thought pulling would be the problem but its agonizing when I bend, twist, or try to stand or lydown.  I am going to call in the am.  In the meantime, back to liquids.  Thanks!!!

Oh my gosh, I am so sorry you went through all that!  It definitely should not be that bad!  You are absolutely a tough lady and I don't think you are either!  If it's making you cry that's definitely too much.  I will keep you in my thoughts cornbella.

I follow a ketogenic diet post-op. I also have a diagnosis of binge eating disorder. Feel free to ask me about either!

I also had severe left side pain, I couldn't even sleep in my own bed because it hurt awful to lay down and to get up was awful. It did get better took a couple of weeks, but I am now 3.5 months post op and wouldn't change a thing.

I want to thank all of you for your responses.  Today was so much better.  I think its still some muscle pain but going back to cream soups and liquids seems to have tamed the beast!  I actually went out to dinner ( potato soup with a lot of leftovers for tomorrow) and to the grocery store without too much trouble.  I think i'm going to stay on this for the next week at least!

I had a crazy amount of pain in the muscles around my largest incision. Bending, twisting, sitting up right, standing, and walking all brought on pain that regularly had me in tears. My surgeon said it's normal pain from the muscles healing. Not everyone feels it, I guess we're the "lucky ones." My surgeon said it would get worse before it got better and it did. Mine stopped hurting entirely at 4 weeks, 6 days. I just woke up one day and had no pain at all. I found that wearing the binder was the only thing that could keep me functioning once I went back to work.

Hang in there. I know it's tough and buyers remorse-inducing. It will get better!

OK so I called the surgeon today because even though Saturday was good, Sunday was awful.  There were times when I couldn't even log roll out of bed without crying.  Here's the scoop.  The hole where they take out your stomach is larger than the rest and so it is sutured to the abdominal muscle.  He thinks that the suture is possibly sitting on a nerve and until that suture dissolves it will continue to cause pain.  He said its not normal but also not unusual.  He also said that he had one patient who had the same type of pain and one day bent over to tie his shoes felt a pop ( the suture broke) and never had the pain again.  So there it is.  Now I am off for this week.  They actually approved another 2 weeks but I hope I don't need it because our team at the hospitals is always so short staffed!  But resting is all I can do and wait.
