I felt the same way. I was about 3 weeks out before I felt better. I told my husband more than once that I regretted having the surgery and I wished I hadn't had it. He said well its a little late now to wish that. But I am now close to 4 months out, down 63 pounds, and feeling much much better. Give it time, it does get better and you will look back and be so happy that  you had this done. Good luck!

It gets better.  I was still feeling crappy a week after surgery.  Work on tha****er.  Have a bottle or whatever you use with you at all times.  Sometimes the temperature makes a difference.  I would rather have nice and cold than lukewarm.  My stomach liked it better.  I had a lot of nausea too but it went away the day after I came home from the hospital.  I have to take Prilosec also because of acid and I think the acid made me feel crappy too because now I feel great.  Hopefully each day gets better for you!

You are doing good with 78 grams of protein. Its only been 1 week and your stomach is still very sensitive. I was having the same issue with my protein shakes until my nutritionist told me to add 1/2 banana and some unsweetened cocoa (Trader Joe's) to my protein shake. It tasted so much better. It also took me most of the day just to finish 1 shake. You will start feeling better day by day. I lived on popsicles for the first couple of weeks. Sending you a speedy recovery.

If, after trying the good suggestions above, you still have nausea, ask your surgeon for an anti-nausea med like Zofran. With your inadequate water intake plus diarrhea, you run a very real risk of severe dehydration. You don't realize how insidiously it creeps up on you until your temperature suddenly shoots up to 103 degrees and you wind up in the ER with an IV. Not a good experience; not good at all. And potentially dangerous.

Ok. Thanks for the input.  I'm definitely very wary of dehydration . . .  since i posted yesterday, the Prilosec seems to be helping and I'm focusing alot more on my water intake than my protien while still trying to get in both. The protien shakes and powders are still making me want to gag but hopefully I'll just be able to push through until my post-op check next week and they will clear me for more interesting protien sources! :)

At almost 2 weeks post-op, I started feeling nauseous. Not just your typical nausea, either. I would consider it almost crippling nausea. I went through a lot of food trial and error, curse words, tears, and head-banging until I entered this forum. The advice and support I received here helped me through the misery. I'm still experiencing a great deal of nausea, but my surgeon prescribed me Phenergan before my surgery - I had just forgotten about it because, well... it's a suppository and I was like NO WAY. The nausea was bad enough that I changed my mind. At first I was using it every 4 hours, but now, I can go 5 hours before I start to feel that little tingle of nausea starting. The bariatric nurse indicated all of this is normal. It may last only a week, but it can last up to 5 months. GULP!

All I can say to you is good luck, do what your surgeon tells you, go slow, drink your water, don't eat anything new or different away from home, be prepared to do things you wouldn't normally do, and be patient. We're all in this together.

Thanks for the encouragement. I'm sorry it's been such rough road for you! Tomorrow is my two week mark and I'm mostly feeling better. Good days and bad days. So hopefully I'll keep headed in the right direction. :)
