Hey Tom,

Congrats on 4 and the sale of your business !!!!

Skinny, healthy with cash in your pocket and your wife on your arm.......perfect !

I just looked at something that might interest you, a motorhome built by Airstream on a Mercedes/Dodge Sprinter chassis..... would be nice on some of your travels to bike races !

That would be fun!  Most of my races are too far away to drive... after I retire, it will be easier!

Tom, you look fit and trim! Not skinny, I had WLS thin, but solid and muscular! Awesome!

You know me, I love the weight training. That's my love. I am, however, enjoying my Trek. I've not done more than 10 miles at a time so far, but am planning some good rides in the Wine Country this summer. My goal is to be able to easily finish a 20 miler.

Seems like just a moment ago we were newbies together. Time flies! Congrats on your great life change success! Always happy to see you pop in and always inspired by your posts!

Always good to hear from you - hope to spend a bit more time hanging out in the future.  Cycling really resonates with me and the community of other cyclists has been fantastic for me to integrate into.  There are so many group rides that it's hard not to be inspired.  I've met a number of weight-loss-success-stories, both surgical and non, who have turned to cycling to lose or keep the weight off. It's almost a sub-culture.

I guess I'm the opposite - weight training is good, but I don't love it. But it definitely has helped in many other ways which keeps me going.  Having a personal trainer is a must for me - really keeps me on track and advancing at the right pace.  We alternate between endurance enhancing stuff (low weight/high rep) and strength (low rep/high weight).  During the last heavy cycle I finally got  up to 200lbs on the deadlifts. So lots of room to grow there... When I started I couldn't do a single regular pushup (broken collarbone kept me from doing much upperbody stuff for a while) - he's got me doing them now with a 45lb weight on my back.  So progress!  But we keep it pretty simple.

Tom
