Yay! You've been a bit of a personal hero for me - so glad you're still here.

Hi,

Had my vsg Aug 2011... Don't get on the boards too often anymore. Started 325 bottomed about 210....currently 235. Resetting again. It's a lifestyle no matter how much I wish to stop thinking about it.

For sure! I WANT to just "eat like a normal person" but I'm finally admitting that there will likely always be a fat person inside that wants to eat ALL THE FOOD. It's my job to keep her under control.

I had my VSG 4 years ago, reconstruction surgery 2 years ago, and have regained some weight since. Hubby (also sleeved) and I did a reset starting last Tuesday, and it's going really well, so I'm hugely encouraged, but would also like to touch base with other people a few years out.

6 years out here and maintaining. Had a small gain after plastics but have lost that.

I remember you :-). Our surgery timeframes are close and I live a few hours down the road from you. Still here, but spend most of my OH time with the VSG Maintenance Group. Haven't had any regain, but it requires constant vigilence and accountability.

I'm still kicking around here, just a couple weeks short of five years. I mostly monitor things here since I usually don't have the time to write the dissertations that I usually post. Am within a couple pounds of goal, having been up a few and down a few here and there.

From what I've seen over the years in our support group, 30ish pounds is quite do-able over a few months with some resetting of habits and being more mindful; 50 lb and more is a lot tougher and people often wind up doing revisions to get things back in line when they get that far, so it's good that you guys are moving things in the right direction.

Thanks for the encouragement. I know it's going to take work, but it's sure good to know that hard work will get me there. I'm determined to stop the slide back to my old habits - we sure know where THOSE got me.

Yeah, we do what we need to do. One of the stories I remember from one of those 30-pounders was that she had fallen into the habit of munching crackers while watching TV, and falling for the sad eyes of her dog wanting some, too (and getting them, of course!) Recognizing that it wasn't healthy for her dog, she tossed the crackers which got her started on her road back. But it was for the dog (any excuse will do!)
