It's great to see you again!  Seems like you're doing really well.  Aside from the Crossfit thing - that just makes you crazy ;)

How nifty that your husband is doing VSG!  You should suggest that he join the forums if that's his thing.  My only advice is to continue to set a good example for him and try to stick mainly to that instead of tell him how to do things.  (I'm not saying that you would tell him what to do, but this is something we all need to be aware of.  It's best to guide by example and to give advice when asked specifically for advice.)  I'm sure you'll be a GREAT support for him and he's really lucky to already have his partner on board with the post-op way of eating.  You're lucky too!  I'd love to be in a household where everyone ate the way I try to eat :P

I'm really excited for him  I'm excited for us - I know he isn't as active as he would like and I'm excited for new things I'll be able to do with him.

I see you are on vyvanse.  I have struggled with binge eating my entire life.  I currently use therapy and OA to help, but am always open to learning about new tools.  how has it worked for you?

Vyvanse has been life changing for me.  I wrote about the whole diagnosis process here -- https://www.myvsg.net/2-uncategorised/778-7-24-2016 -- but I really need to make a good update post about life since I've been on it.

I started on 30mg/day and increased to 40mg/day after the first month and that's been my dosage ever since.  It's amazing.  I was completely obsessing about food and now I just don't.  I haven't had a single episode of binging since I started Vyvanse - literally since day 1 of medication.  I can walk into a store that sells food and it doesn't even cross my mind that I could buy something to snack on.  And I don't spend the entire drive to the store thinking about what I'm going to get as a "treat."  I'm able to recognize my body's full signal more readily and easily.  I don't get distracted by the thought of food when I'm doing other things.  I would pay full price for this medication if I had to, because it's been -that- life changing for me.

I've said multiple times to so many people that my weight was not the issue with Binge Eating Disorder, and that my weight gain after my dad's death was just a symptom of the BED.  But my weight is definitely linked to the BED and I lost 21 pounds the first 3 months I was on Vyvanse.  A good indicator that Vyvanse is successfully addressing the BED!

Thank you so much for sharing!  I didn't even know this medicine existed.

My adult son is in the pre-op process and we have discussed how I can support him.  He has said that he knows what to do from watching me.  He knows what not to do from watching my choices (the good, bad and ugly).  I have been making him some of my favorite foods from early on such as Eggface's ricotta bake, certain protein shake recipes and my go-to potato soup made with milk and plain protein powder and a little cheese.  He would not try the hot chai with vanilla protein powder that I loved when I got sick of the sweets.

Even though his tastes will change a little, he will know his options.

Wow, its been a minute since I've been on as well.  I too remember when you were starting to date and I'm so glad you found someone that makes you happy!  Congrats!
