Hi There,

First of all this is my 2nd wls.  I had the band and now the VSG.  I love my sleeve.  Just wondering if am the only one struggling with the weight loss, since this is my 2nd surgery and because I'm 48 yrs old.  Whatcha think?

Got rid of 10 lbs before surgery
I was 204 after surgery
Now I'm 169 lbs.

Got rid of 10 lbs before surgery
Got rid of 25 lbs so far.
Total 35 lbs gone.

Hi Babygirlinokc,

This too was a second wls surgery.  I got my band in 05 and the first year I had it I lost 50lbs, then it slipped.  I had it fixed and thats when all the trouble began I could not get my band working again.  In 08 they moved my band up and still no luck.  July 13, 2009 I had my band removed and my sleeve done.  I am very happy to have had the second wls.  I am 5'5", 46yrs old, so far I have lost 41 lbs.  I am hoping to have another 9 lbs off by the end of the year.  Starting in January I will work on losing another 30lbs.  My goal is to get to 140 - 145.  Sounds like you are doing well.  Keep up the good work!  I have gone from 220 to 179..so far it has been great!

Take care,
eslamson1

Hi eslamson1,

Congrats on your revision to the sleeve.  I absolutely love mine.  What a difference between the band and the sleeve.

Exactly what type of food do you eat?   Do you eat your protein first?  How much exercise do you do?

I eat small amounts, except  I eat carbs more then I should.  I don't really exercise especially since the weather has gotten cooler.   I'm really going to do my best and not pig out during the Holidays............  I to  am going to start again in January  to lose another 40 lbs if possible.

Thanks for replying.....

Blessing,

Hello my name is Princess and I'm new to 40 and over.  I had my surgery in June 09 and have lost 120 pounds so far I believe more I just need to get weighed.(smile)
I'm not the one to keep running to the scale all the time.  Refuse to drive myself crazy!

I'm 48 as well and seem to be doing excellent with the sleeve.  I still can't eat everything.  Some things I may never eat again.  I just don't want to lose too much weight!  I like haveing some thickness to me.

Old post but I'll respond anyway. ;o)

I think age does make a bit of difference but not as much as people think.  I lost 108# with a band by diet and exercise, tons of exercise and keeping calories at 600 daily.  I'm 47 and maintaining well but I have seriously changed my diet and limit white carbs drastically.
