Got a Date 08/27/2010//

Surgery with Dr. H. Elariny.  Going to reverse 2002 RNY and convert to D.S.  Final meeting with surgeon in a week or so.  Assume pre-op liquid diet will be required.  Was curious what questions I should be asking since I am sort of a light weight.  5' 8'3/4" 233 pounds.  I started my RNY journey at 307.  Should I consider a longer CC???

Hi! I don't think Dr E will want to do a longer common channel...he really really thinks the 100cm is the way to go and he's had 10 years of experience to back him up. With a 100cm common channel, you won't have to worry about regain unless you go nuts with carbs. Dr E also doesn't believe LWs need to do a long liquid diet. I think I was on full liquids 2 days before, then clear liquids the day before with the bowel prep that night, then surgery. Let me know if you're going to be at Fair Oaks or Fairfax and I'll drop to see you. I'll go ahead and volunteer to be your surgery angel right now if you'll have me.

Are you going to be at the support group at Fairfax on Tuesday? A couple of us are going to meet at the Merrifield Swee****er Tavern at 5PM and go to the support group at 7PM. Would love to meet you.

I would love it if you stopped by.  I do pilates on Tuesday nights but may have to pass to learn what I can before surgery.  I am going to print vitalady's suggested vits list and start getting prepared.  Where is the support group held.  Fairfax or Fair Oaks Hospital???

Fairfax Hospital is the one Dr E sponsors. It's right there near the area where the info session was done. I also attend a support group in Chantilly that's the second Monday night every month.

Welcome aboard and congrats on getting a date.

That is one thing my surgeon is doing...a longer common channel. I am 5'3" and weigh 200 (a 35.5% BMI). If I drop below 198, I slip under the magic 35%.
