Usually it is someone in the 30-40BMI with around 100lbs or less to lose. But if you like us, we like you and you are welcome to be a lightweight.  We seem to have some issues that our heavier friends don't, like everyone telling us we don't need surgery.  There is a lightweight creed but I don't have it saved so maybe Gina will post it.

Major Mom posted our LW creed which might answer some of your questions.  We are not about "starting" numbers on this board so stick around if you feel comfortable here!!!   We are a NO DRAMA Board!!  That doesn't mean you can't come to us when you are upset and need to talk.....it means you won't get any negative replies that cause drama.   This has been my only support system for the last 5+ years and I give my LW's sooo much credit for my success.

I start M&M (Menus and Miles) everyday and it has really helped me be accountable...come join us!

Thanks.  I started out w/ just a little over 100 lbs to lose.  I would never have considered that "lightweight"  haha.  Friendly support is always appreciated, though!!

I am new here too, I never heard the term lightweight before,- until I was asking a question on the other OH boards and someone called me one!  At this starting weight of 222lbs, I never consider it ever to be light weight!!  For goodness sake, I was supposed to be about 135LBS to be healthy - technically!  I noticed that my weight was not coming off as quickly as others on the board, and realized it was because I was starting at a lower weight than many of the others posting.  Thank goodness for this group.  I thought I was doomed to live the rest of my body at this weight...I thought I was going to be the only one in the world that this surgery wouldn't work for! thank you everyone and I look forward to being part of this group!  I am just starting week 5 and have lost only 19 lbs, but at least no I am not panicking!

"ONLY" 19???  Girlfriend - that's 3.8 pounds a WEEK - when have you ever done that??  I NEVER have!  Lightweights need to measure their success as a PERCENTAGE of weight lost - not in pounds.  Someone heavier than us will lose more POUNDS but they may, or may not, be equal to us in percentage!  If you want a cool percentage calculator PM me.
