First Post Op Visit.

Apr 02, 2012

Today was my first post-op visit since surgery,I'm exactly 20 days out since i was sleeved.Since my surgeon usually does surgeries on Tuesday i had to make my appointment for today. The appointment went very well.I was called into the room to have my vitals taken by his Medical Assistant and i had on jeans and i told her that i refuse to weigh in my jeans,I had tights on under so i was very prepared. So i actually was facing the scale and when i saw 432.0 i was beyond thrilled because i knew that i had lost over 20pds and that's what i was hoping for. Then i was put in the waiting room and Dr Herron came in about 10 minutes later.During out talked he told me that he noticed that my face and neck looked smaller already i thought that was hilarious,At least i know that he is paying attention.I seriously think that i have a little crushed on him,He was looking very dapper today as usual.Dr Herron was thrilled with the way my incision looks and we talked about putting me on meds to help prevent gallstones,So i have to pick that up tomorrow or Wednesday. He was look shocked when i asked about that...lol(thanks OH),I guess many of his patients don't ask,However i was more then prepared.I have lost 23 pounds, Since surgery and over all of 36 pounds since august. After i spoke to Dr Herron i then met with the Nutritionist and we went over my food and things that I've been eating and she said that she was happy to hear that I'm tolerating everything so well. She also gave me a mini booklet about eight pages long with all kind of recipes that I'm very much looking forward to trying cause i was getting pretty damn bored of the things that I'm eating. So then after that i had a meeting with the INS specialist to see what the damage is.I don't remember if i told you guys but my surgeon does not take my INS anymore he use too but not anymore but since i loved him and felt so comfortable with him,I was willing to have a balance for whatever the INS didn't cover. So when she pulled up my account,My surgery cost a total of 23,500 wtf,So she told me that the INS will probably only cover about 1800-200 of that leaving me a balance of 21,000+.SO here is where the story gets better she was like Dr Herron is not going to leave you with that big balance because he cares more about his patients health then again. So he is going to take care of the 21,000 and leave me with a smaller balance. So she asked me how much do i think that i would be able to pay realistically and i said 2000 push comes to shove....That made me so happy that tears starts to fall from my eyes because what DOCTOR does that.So for a 23,000 surgery i will only have to pay 2000 maybe less cause i gotta call the INS specialist back on Thursday to see what the final word is from DR Herron....You see why i love that man.I know that not may  DR would do something like that.So over all i had a very good first visit and i don't go back again until three months unless something happens. However right now I'm on cloud 23 and I'm enjoying the moment.I know that the numbers wont always be this big and that eventually my weight will slow down but I'm loving my sleeve at the very moment and I'm so thankful that i had an uneventful surgery and recovery so far,I just want to say to all the newbies that may be reading this,I know that first week is hard but i'm telling you it does get easier each and every day,You just have to stick with it and before you know it you will have forgetten about your first week,Just take it one day at a time.
