Note from my doctor

May 05, 2011

Last Saturday I went to my PCP to discuss decreasing my diabetes meds since I started my pre-surgery liquid diet.  We decided to stop 2 of my 3 diabetes medications. That leave one diabetes med, 1 cholesterol med and a blood pressure med used to protect my kidneys.  I am to test my fasting blood glucose level every morning and 2 hours after a meal 3 X a week.  She said my 2 hour glucose can be as high as 200.  So far they have been in the low 90s :)

Today I received a note from my doctor showing that my Total Cholesterol is 118 (down from 144 in December).  My bad cholesterol is 44.

The comments from the doctor at the bottom of the form said that she is going to cut my cholesterol medicine in half next time I am in.  Since I am already on the lowest dose possible,  I guess I will need to start splitting the pills in half (or taking them every other day).  Then she wrote: "I can tell from your blood work what a wonderful job that diet is doing for you and how hard you are working.  Congratulation and you go girl!"  That made my day!
