Roux en y 5 years ago
Apr 13, 2011
Five years ago I was facing surgery at 330 pounds. Today I am 110 pounds lighter and am a lot healthier. I wish everyone determination, strength and faith during the transition to a new lifestyle and body.

Together we are a community
Feb 17, 2011
One of the things that I discovered in my nursing research study was we are a community, a population. As people who have had roux-en-y our bodies are changed. Physicians scratch their heads and say "oh so you have had a gastric bypass, did it work". I want to say I always want to be an advocate for us whether it be with physicians, surgeons, nutritionist, ...
I wish I could contact the physician licensing board to make sure they have a semester of gastric surgery as a prerequist for graduation.

Thank you OH and members for being a community that loves people whether they are big or not. I have gotten the best support from this website during my weight loss journey. Cheers to everyone!
2006 gastric bypass

Gastric bypass is a journey not for the faint- hearted. The unhealthy struggles continue even after the surgery has healed. Only by changing your lifestyle, including the poor relationship with food and lack of desire to exercise will you be successful.
New coping strategies need to be in place to replace the need to eat when you are mad, sad, or glad. Find out first what you are going to use instead of eating to cope, don't trade one addiction for another.
Pamper yourself, believe in yourself, allow yourself to be real because you will at times fail. When you do, think about how to be you can be more healthy and happy. Put those things in place and make them your
life pursuit. Keep a journal to keep yourself on track.
.
God bless you in your journey, do the things you couldn't when you were heavy. Have fun, you look loverly :) and you are a WLS.
