Hello! My name is Bethany, I turned 34 years old two months ago and on my 34th birthday I had my very first appointment with a cardiologist. (Yay- Happy Birthday to me!) I didnt like being 34 years old and needing a cardiologist. Well this was the wake up call that I needed! I will spare you the boring details of the last two months but I have had an array of tests done and I have been diagnoised with Morbid Obesity, Heart Arrhythmia, and Mild Obstructive Sleep Apnea.
I have always been heavy my entire life- all of the women and most men in my family are obese. In highschool when I was active in sports I was one of the "solid" girls on the team. In my 20's my weight just continued to climb and I was in denial that I had a problem. Now, here I am, a mother of two and my biggest fear is that I will orphan my children a second time in their life. I had the privelage of adopting my two children and I want to make sure that I am here to raise them into the best adults that they can be!
A very good friend of mine started the process for her vertical sleeve and she had the sleeve done about the time that I was being inundated with all of these scary heath issues. I have recently decided to pursue the gastric sleeve surgery. I just scheduled my consulation with two different doctors, one is going to see me later this month and the other can not see me for 3 months. My primary physician has recommended both doctor's for the weight loss surgery option.
Wish me luck on this newest endeavor, I am scared and excited all at the same time! This website has been a lot of help and encouragement, and ultimately made me realize I can take my life back into my own hands.
