I got to the surgical center at 7:45am and of course had to wait forever. They finally took me back and had me change into a hospital gown and started my IV. I had to drink this nasty medicine that was supposed to neutralize my stomach acid (I have no idea why). I then got a shot of Heprin in my belly and a dose of antibiotics through my IV. Then we waited forever again. They finally came to get me and by then, I was so impatient from waiting for hours (it was past 11:30) that I wasn't even nervous. They took me to the OR and I climbed up on the operating table. They told me they were going to give me something to relax me before they knocked me out, but I have no memory after that.
I woke up about an hour later and the nurse was asking me what my pain level was (I think I told her it was a 7). Soon after that, Erick was with me and I was eating ice chips. I went home about two hours after I got out of surgery. My pain was pretty bad for a few days and the clear liquid diet was hell! I am now on a full liquid diet, which is still hard, bit soooooo much better than just clear liquids. I can eat soups and intstant breakfasts and things like that. Once I get to two weeks, I can start eating things like cottage cheese and scrambled eggs (they sound sooooo good right now...lol). At five weeks, I can start eating regular foods again.
Today is the first day that I have felt really good. My port site is still really sore if I bend or get up or sit down or anything like that. The best news is that I lost 10 1/2 pounds while I was on clear liquids!!!! I expect to gain a pound or two of this back because it was mostly fluid loss, not fat loss, but it's still exciting to see the scale go down so much already. I would like to lose between 80-100lbs all together (my starting weight was 232) Well I think this is it. Please feel free to ask any questions..........nothing is to personal.
