Confirmation Call.

Jun 23, 2016

Ok i received a call on tuesday from the bariatric Center wanting to confirm my appointment date. So everything is a go!        I also found out that my health insurance renewal doesn't have to be done until Febuary of next year! Question:  Once I have my consultation should I start stocking up on protein shakes and vitanims?  Also I have been reading alot about hair loss after surgery... should I start taking Botin a month or two before my surgery date?

Getting my ducks in a row!

Mar 24, 2016

Research research research.

Ok. So now I know that recovery time is anywhere from 6 to 8 weeks. That hospital time ranges anywhere from 2 days to a week. I will not need extra assist help once I come home. I will need to sip at least two liters of clear fluid a day for the first week. I will also need to walk around 15 to 20 minutes a day intermittently. Liquid vitamins would most likely be best. I may have to sleep with my head elevated until I heal. After that watch my carbs. Drink my water excercise and take my vitamins and protein shakes.Lastly keep an eye on my lab work. I also know I will get tired quickly until fully recovered and will need to adjust to my new digestive system.

I know this is all prep for when my surgery has been done. Am I missing anything anything?

Thank you for you response to my post.

Mar 21, 2016

Well I want to thank all of you for your wonderful advise. I have come to a decsion. I have done a lot of research this weekend. I have weight'd most of the pro's and the con's of each type of surgery and I'm really leaning towards the DS. I May change my mind with more research, but at the present this surgery sounds like the one for me. I really don't want to chance a revision in the future. I'm the type of person who when something is needed to be done, just to do it right the first time and be done with it. I have located a doctor and hospital that does This type of surgery. I will make a future appt. to meet with the surgeon. He may tell me I would be better with another type of surgery. This is a journey and we never know what's arou d the corn. You just have to go with what you know. ????

Assistance after surgery

Mar 21, 2016

Ok. This is something that I would like to know since I live alone. What type of Assistance will I need during my recovery period after surgery?

I know I won't feel like doing  much. One of my close friends is concerned about my after care. I too want to know how much help I will need and for how long it will be required.

I don't want to burden my friends. I am the sole survivor of my family and have had to be self sufficient. I know I will need to stay in the hospital several days after surgery. Also with this type od surgery the closest surgeon is located a hundred miles away from my home. So you see why I and my friend are concerned. My friend can't help me due to her own health problems

So I need some ideas and suggestions are always welcome. ????
