Well, I had my first unofficial visit with Dr. Lindsay, she is fab. She has a great personality and I really liked her alot. I went to her after I found out I had a hernia, so my surgeon near home said if I was contemplating WLS, then I should see them before I had surgery here. So, that is how the unofficial visit came about. After I left her office I stopped by Eileen W. office to drop off my 5 year medical history and letter from my PCP. I didn't want to lose it before I "get this party started". She was equally fabulous. I have scheduled my PEval, Nut. Meeting and WLS Coordinator for Friday, August 19th. That will be the offical day "this party has stated". I am ready for life on the loosing side, I had a huge support network of family and friends and especially from my Lord and Savior...he has given me the strength to start the ball rolling. I praise him daily for my direction and strength. As I was driving home from my appointment (an hour and a half from my house)a friend from work who is also considering WLS with the news that one of our co-workers has had this surgery and she is going to meet with us next week and share her story, allowing us to ask as many questions as we like. I know she will give us insight and answers to our questions. Well, I have babbled on long enought...thanks for reading and following my journey...it may be a long one, but I will keep the faith. God is Great! My friends call me Millie!

July 22, 2005 I have all my appropriate medical records, a letter from my PCP. I met with the local surgeon on Tuesday about the hernia I have. When I told him of my plan for WLS, he said that there was no since in having two surgeries, that the WLS surgeon could fix the hernia during the WLS surgery...sounded good to me. So, now I have an appointment with Dr. Lindsay on Tuesday, July 26th. Hopefully after meeting with her and letting her know my plans for WLS, she will begin the consultation process...I hope this is a good visit...I feel like since I just started seriously looking into this procedure on July 10, 2005 and I already have all my medical records, my PCP approval, my families approval, my employer's approval...all I will have to wait on now is the more formal procedures, consult, phy eval, nuti eval, insurance approval, surgery date...I am hoping that it can all happen quickly because of my hernia, but if I have to wait then that's the way it is suppose to be. I feel God has opened these doors rather quickly, so if it is his will to let me have this surgery now then so be it...James 1:5. Oh, great funny to add to this posting...I guess I messed up on one requirement for this surgery...you have to attend a support group meeting...well, we went tonight to one we thought was from 5:30-7pm...I drove an hour and a half only to realize it was June 22nd, not July 22nd...I am such and idiot...your brain plays funny tricks on you when you are really excited about a life changing event...I feel like I am OCD about the surgery...Iam I crazy? Oh, well we laughed our butts off about it all the way to Damon's for a great dinner.... Penny

July 10, 2005 Read a local article about a gentleman who lost 267# through WLS. I was so proud of him and he has given me hope that I to can take this journey. July 12, 2005 I attended my first WLS seminar in Franklin, IN. I was amazed at the information they give you, their candidness and friendliness. Eileen W. was fabulous and I can't wait to meet Dr. Lindsay, she was called out of town and was able to attend, but she left a video for us to view. It was very educational and I am looking forward to my reseach of this procedure. I came home and went right to this site and signed up. I have read and read and read...you people are amazing...your journey's give me hope that I too can lead a fat free life. Thank you. July 15, 2005 I have three hurdles to overcome...1)to commit to a life style change, 2) telling my parents I want to take this journey, 3) my doctors approval for the surgery. If I can accomplish those three things I can do this. July 18, 2005 Well, with God grace and love, I jumped my first and second hurdle...I went to my parents house yesterday after church to share my desires to have this surgery...I was so scared I could have puked on the dining room table. THEY WERE AMAZING...they shared with me their concerns, but I explained to them I would like them to attend the seminar at Franklin, that way they can asked questions they have and meet the doctor. We cried, we laughed, we were a family who loves one another and when one of us is hurting, we all hurt. I have my families blessing, that helped me to jump the next hurdle...the committment...I am ready to make this change and in doing so I am doing as my doctor advised me...3 meals a day, no snacks. I also took advice Eileen gave me at the seminar...don't drink with your meal...so this morning, no water with breakfast...only a small drink after I finished. Look out world here I come... July 19, 2005 Well, I sent a letter to my PCP to request help in having this surgery...let's pray he is as caring as my parents. I had an appointment with a surgeon today, I have a hernia on my right side and the WLS surgeon said I should see him and then see her, she might be able to do both at the same time. After my visit to the local surgeon he said he wouldn't do the surgery, that if I were going to have WLS, that surgeon could fix the problem and do the WLS so he suggested I shouldn't do anything until I have met with her. That appointment is Tuesday, July 26th...wish me luck...
