Hi, It's been a long time since I posted anything. It is now June 19th and I have lost 85 lbs. It is coming off slow but I like it that way. I can pretty much eat whatever I want even sweets but in small quantities. I've had a slice of blueberry cheesecake, pie, 2 choco. chip cookies (home-made) without no problem. This is not what I normally eat though. That is just an occasional treat. I have things like tomatoes, immitation crabmeat all cut up together with a spoon of sour cream for supper, or one slice of supreme pizza, or chicken with potatoe and brussel sprouts. Lunch I have a chicken rice bowl with vegetables and breakfast either a yogurt or one of my great strawberry egg protein milkshakes. I eat some popcorn or a handfull of cheesepuffs, or almonds (dozen) good for the cholesterol! I still don't do soft bread, pastas or things gummy like pancakes etc. Makes me throw up. But I'm so happy for what I can eat. I remember the days of broth and cream of wheat made like runny soup.........Well got to go. Good Luck to All. Sandy Harmon

HI AGAIN! I'm in search of a tasty protein mix and chewable vitamins that aren't sour. I've had the 100% egg protein drink mix and when mixed with strawberries, milk & ice in blender it is fantastic but Lord All Mighty you can't be around anyone for the horrible smelly gas it makes. yuk. Then I tried a whey protein drink, mixed it just like I did the egg protein and it was the nastiest thing ever. Next I went to the protein whey bars and tried the strawberry----no whey (pun) but today I did find a bar that was chocolate chip cookie dough flavored that had 34g of protein, 270 calories, 4g sugar no carbs and tasted great. It did me for lunch with a cup of tea and kept me full for 5 hours which nothing does. But these puppies are $2.79 each. I've tried a couple of different chewable vitamins from the General Nutrition Store; one was lemon-lime flavored which was too acidic for my stomach, then I tried this liquid cherry flavored stuff. I opened the bottle and knew I was in trouble when I poured it on a spoon and it was a combination color of yellow/brown/army green and tasted like that too. Where the cherry flavor was who knows! Then I tried a regular Teen Cherry flavored chewable they sold and it was also too sour. Gave it to my 10 yr old who loves all that sour candy and she said the same--ohh-yuk. Back to Flintsones Chewables I guess. I'm doing much better. Gettin my strength back now. Take one protein drink a day, can eat shrimp, all vegetables except corn, salads, pasta, potatoes, fish, all dairy products, all hot cereals, a couple of swigs of pop in a day, & chicken. I have also tried toasted cheese sandwhiches and make sure the bread is good and toasted. Don't eat bread elsewise. Hurts the chest. I am now 7 weeks post-op and have lost 35 lbs. Not alot but that's ok if it comes off slow. I know it will. I'm more concerned with keeping up my stamina because I have to work. My incision has never seeped or caused me any problems. I'm just now able to slightly lay on my side for awhile. I can go to the stores and shop for an hour now without feeling like I'm going to pass out. This is a big plus for me. I even got my hair cut today to feel a little special. Oh yeah----have been eating air popped popcorn sprayed with Pam and have no problem with it. Bye for now.

Hi, I'll be 5 weeks post-op Dec. 21st. I was definitely not doing too well until I called my Dr. to tell him, I was very weak, always nauseated and diarrhea 5-6 times a day. I asked him through other sites suggestions if I could take Protein drink mixes (I chose 100% egg protein) besides B-12 supplements, & high quality vitamins? He said to go ahead and also buy some chewable Pepcid tablets to help with the nausea. I'm getting about 70% of my energy back. I still have a problem though if I go out and try to do some grocery shopping---I get nauseated when I stand for 15 min or so? I do good at home but then again there is a chair anytime I want. I have no problems going up and down steps in my home. Several times a day now. Still can't sleep on my side; I may attempt it for 10 minutes and it seems like all my inners are sliding over and then I have to carefully roll on my back again. I know some bounce back at different times. I think your age, general health before and care afterwards has alot to do with it too. I have been on soft foods for 2 weeks now which has cured most of the diarrhea. I have made a toasted cheese sandwhich with light margarine, fat-free cheese, chewed carefully and slowly and had no problems what-so-ever with anything. That was my supper. I tried a broiled piece of fish last week and it also was ok with my system. Haven't tried soft chicken yet, think I'll wait a couple more weeks. I have also tried a casserole and didn 't have any problems with the noodles either. I am not constantly hungry as I was the first 3 weeks either. Solid food helping that issue. Talk later.
