The doctors office just called me!!!!!! They want to know if I can be available for surgery on Thursday the 15th. I was not scheduled until October 10th. I am so excited!!!! I am ready but then again I am not. I have so much to do to get prepared, but it seems like I have been ready forever. If anyone has any input please e-mail me ASAP [email protected]. Congratulations on your upcoming sugery. I hope that everything goes wonderful with your sugery, and I hope that you recover quickly. I am having Lap RNY on August 16th here in Colorado. Soon you will be on the loosing side. Good luck with everything and take care, Diane

I have had my initial consult. I had it with Dr. O'Brien on June 4th. I thought it went very well. He said that I was a good canidate for lap. His nurse Pam was very nice and answered most of my questions. Dr. O'Brien said he would dictate a letter for my insurance and I should here something in a few weeks.\ I had gone on his web site to visit with people from my area and find out there opinon of Dr. and the whole procedure. I find out the very next day that Dr. O'Brien has had some patients with leaks and that he was postponing all surgeries until further notice. I tell ya I got scared and started looking for a new Dr. and even thought about not having the surgery at all. After talking to a few people on the internet and some friends around home. I decided to look into it more. I called the doctors office and asked some questions and they advised that Dr. O thought that it might be the instruments he was using and that he was investigating. I decided to wait it out. It is a little over a week later and he has resumed surgeries. There are some people who have gone to other doctors but I think I will ride it out. After all he could have continued on with the surgeries scheduled and explained it as part of the risk you take with having this surgery and left it at that. He didn't, and took the time to find out the problem and fix it before continuing with any more patients surgeries. I admire that after all in this day in age everyone is "SUE" happy and it would have been easier to just keep quite and act like it is a normal risk. I hope to have approval soon and then a date for surgery I will try to keep my site updated. I would love to hear from as many people as possible, and their differnt views. C-Ya soon.
