Germantown Hospital

"The nurses and staff at Germantown were excellent. During my five day stay, only one nurse was not as knowledgable as I would have liked, but then other seven that cared for during my stay were outstanding, caring, knowledgable nurses. Like most growing hospitals, we had some trouble with parking because of the current construction project. Other than that, the hospital stay could not have been better."

Phillip G Alston

"After talking with friends, I met with the two doctors in town doing WLS. I felt that both were very talented, knowledgable, and experienced, but I had heard terrible things about Dr. Cowan's office staff. So I decided to go with Dr. Alston. I made it clear on my first visit that I was still "shopping" for a doctor and Dr. Alston was very understanding and helpful (even suggesting another doctor that I might want to see), but the idea that I might not be ready to sign on the dotted line absolutely blew his staff's mind. Things have continued to go down hill since then. I first met with Dr. Alston in mid-May. June first I called the office to say that I had decided to go with Dr. Alston. I was told a letter would go to my insurance company by mid-June and I should start checking on it by the end of June. Long story short - - for 6 weeks my insurance company insisted that they had never received the letter even though Dr. Alston's staff told me five times that they would fax the letter. When I asked for a copy of the letter, they finally admitted that it had never been written. Once my insurance got the letter, the surgery was approved in less than two weeks. But my problems did not stop there. I then started trying to get my surgery date. Every time I called the office I was told Marsha would try to get to me soon. I did not get a surgery date until mid-October (and of course, she gave me the latest possible date of Feb. 4th). If I was not convinced that Dr. Alston was the surgeon for me, I would have blow my top long before now. As it is, I am waiting until I see Dr. Alston again to show him the documentation on how I was treated by his staff. I realize that people make mistakes and I have heard numerous good things about Dr. Alston's staff. I pray that I was just caught by some unfortunate events and that all other patients will be dealt with honestly and with the upmost of concern."
