Well, 6 months have gone by since my surgery. I haven't felt this good in years! I've lost 73.5 lbs. and somewhere around 30" off my body. I still have about 40 lbs. to go to my goal. And I hope to accomplish that by my 1-year anniversary. I have no problems to speak of. I do dump from sugar and high fatty foods. So I do watch that carefully. I get my 8 glasses of water in per day and my 60 gms protein (as prescribed by my surgeon). I try to stay away from breads/pasta/potatoes, but do not cut them out all together, as they used to be my staples. But now, it's protein. But hey, you gotta treat yourself once in a while. On the day of surgery, I was wearing a size 24 and they were tight. Today, I'm a size 18 loose, soon to be 16. As far as "head hunger", none for me. I wasn't an emotional eater, so my moods do not depend on food for a fix. Just got my 6-month blood work back and everything except iron is in the normal range. And the iron is just a tad low. I will see Dr. Ikramuddin next week for my check-up. Looking forward to it. Any questions, feel free to e-mail me. Take care all!

Hello everyone! Thanks for all the well wishes. I'm approximately 1 month post-op and finally feeling really good. I had a set-back at about 2-3 weeks post-op. I tried working-out at Curves twice in one week and ended-up in so much pain I had to spend a weekend in bed. I'm back on my feet again and will be waiting for another week before trying that work-out again. I can eat pretty much anything but only 1/2 cup at a time. Any more than that and I feel pretty sick. I'm walking several times a week but am anxious for better weather to walk even more. I have to admit, those first days & weeks after surgery were not any fun. I wouldn't want to do that again for anything. I'm happy I had no complications and am looking forward to the new me. Any of you pre-ops out there, just a word that everyone's experience is different. Yours could be a breeze. But I think everyone experiences some discomfort, pain, nausea, or vomiting. Just be prepared for the worst & hope for the best. Good luck to everyone!

Tammy, good luck on Tuesday!! I had my lap rny with Dr. I last Tuesday and I'm feeling pretty darn good. I went home at 2:00 Thursday and have been taking it easy, drinking my fluids, taking my medicine. I met Stephanie, she is having surgery the same day, and she is great. I hope you end up as roommates. I had a lady as mine and it was so fun to share with her during my stay.

Tammy, best wishes for your upcoming surgery. I had mine in November 2000, and I have never had a single regret. One thing that may help to remember is that the nervousness is over with when you wake up in the recovery room to your new life.
