08/02/00 Born 06/06/52 I'm 48 now, Had my first visit today with Jeannie Colter at Dr. Aslams office, went real well shes a lot of fun (and I got 100 on my test) Went to my new PCP this morning too and he gave me a referal so I don't have to self refer and pay 1000 in deductables. Jeannie said go home and think it over and I said thinking is all done, LETS LIGHT THIS CANDLE. I didn't really say that but it sounds good now don't it?
08/04/00 saw the psycologist today he said my test was normal, and I would be a good candidate for WLS, my next tests are on the 24th. of August, things are moving very well. Dieting now to get into the best shape I can for surgery.
08/24/00 more tests today, I have gall stones, the doc says do they hurt? I said I'm sure they will tomorrow! Blood tests and pee in a cup....hey I ain't seen my PP in years, this could be tough! (came out OK) Then the dietician, she said have some Carnation instant breakfast, OK, insurance is next.
10/06/00 Got my date today (and insurance approval letter) December 22,2000, back on 8/4/00 I said I was dieting, thats not going so good! I MAY HAVE SOME KIND OF A EATING DISORDER!! (LOL)
Dec.16,00 I had pre-ops yesterday, the anestisiaologist is sending me to a cardiac doctor cause my EKG had a murmer or something, and because I took phen-phen 4 years ago, I think everything will be OK cause the nurse too another ekg after and said it looked good and maybe the first one had a glitch. They got me an appointment Thursday at 2:30 so its right down to the wire, actually its for the best, I think about the heart doctor instead of the surgery till the last minute! I just came home from Walmart getting vitamins and Carnation Instant Breakfast, I wanted to get Bugs Bunny vitamins but they said Flintstones so I had to get them. (so sad)LOL

12/21/00 spent 4 hours at the cardiologist today, had an ecogram to check heart valves for damage from phen-phen, surgery tomorrow morning at 7:30 am so I guess everything is a OK. I took the antibiotics before I left home (the ones you have to take the day before surgery) and they made me have an acident in my pants on the way to the hospital, luckily I was only 3 miles from the rest area, that reminds me I have to go wash my pants!!
SEE YOU ON THE OTHER SIDE

12/25/00 To quote someone from the movie Galaxy Quest "THAT WAS A HECK OF A THING"
I'm home now, everything went great, need to rest.

12/29/00 went to see Dr A. yesterday, he took out my drain tube, so far this has been a CAKE WALK, I hope things keep going this smooth.

1/9/01 Dr. visit today, staples are out but feeding tube has to stay for two more weeks (it kinda gets in the way when you sleep). down 29 lbs.

1/23/01 Dr. Aslam took out my feeding tube today, thats nice to have it gone. 38 lbs. GONE FOREVER, one other thing, I FEEL GREAT!

2/22/01 Saw Dr. Aslam today down 52lbs. he said everything looks great. Life is pretty much back to normal, been back to work for 2 weeks, three more weeks and its time to make maple syrup, great exercise, and it will be warm enough to go outside (I can't wait).

4/27/01 Saw Nancy today down 85lbs. now, I was having a problem with too many BM's Nancy said I might be eating too much fat and that was it(blue cheese dressing, butter, ect.) soon as I started cutting back everything was OK. Well the syrup is all made and it's warm enough to walk and ride my bike now, I feel GREAT. I went shopping the other day and bought a XL shirt and size 40 pants, didn't know if they would fit yet, they fit great!!

6/19/01 Dr. visit today with Dr. Aslam, officially down 101lbs. now and feel great. They sent me for labs today, but Dr. Aslam said I was doing great and probably didn't need them, but I wanted them done to be sure my vitamins were OK. Size 38 pants fit now!!

10/10/01 I weigh 210 now, been busy enjoying life!! (down 125lbs.)

12/22/01 I'm one year old today, it's seems like a short year, probably cause there are so many changes that took place. I wonder how long I'll get to stay thin, cause I am the one person this won't last on (we all think this...lol) but I really am the one, so as long as I stay thin the rest of you have it made. I started at 335 and now am steady at 205-212, life is pretty much like normal now, if we went out to eat and I didn't tell you, you would not know I had surgery. My bowel habits are pretty normal now. Living is so much better, I noticed the other day when it snowed, I raked the roof off and shoveled the deck, I used to be soaked with sweat from doing that and when I was done I realized I wasn't even sweating and in fact I was a little cold!! I've been getting my gas at big apple and getting ski passes, I'm going to sugarloaf for a free ski lesson some time. I must admit I still have the same eating disorder I always had, however I can eat low fat now and be satisfied due to no stomach rumbling cause there is no acid to get upset. I must thank Dr. Aslam and his staff, they have always treated me very well, I am so happy I found them. Good luck to all of you starting your journey.

1/11/02 Well, I woke up today and the scale says 198.5 WOW, I have no recollection of ever being this light, as far as I can remember I was 199 at birth...lol

6/6/02 I'm 50 today, I feel great, my weight stays around 200lbs pretty steady I wear size 36 levis 505 jeans and they are baggy..lol....size large shirts...who am I???..it sure is a lot easier getting around being lighter that's for sure. Good luck to all of you starting your journey....I'm sure happy I had this done.

12/22/02 2 year aniversary today, still 205, size 35 levis, gotta love it!

1/28/04 Last week I was diagnosed as Bi-Polar by my phsyciatrist and started on lithium, it has been a God send, my depression went away the same day, it's like someone threw a switch and turned off the crazy man inside my head. It would appear I have been bi-polar my whole life but the stress and changes from surgery made it much worse, it has been a tough 2 years for my dear wife to say the least, I can only hope now that I can stay feeling this good for a long time. Heck I thought everyone got up in the morning and had to decide weather to have ham and eggs for breakfast or just go out on the deck and shoot themselves...LOL. I never wanted to take drugs...but I can't remember ever feeling this good, its not like I'm dopped up or anything, just like the crazyness went away. If any of you are suffering from deep long term depression I urge you to get help, they can make it go away.

January 27, 2005....had my 4 year check-up yesterday with Dr. Aslam, still 205lbs. still trying my best to get some of my vitamin levels up, always the same ones, zinc, Vit D, I am going to the tanning salon now to see if that helps but UVB light converts colesterol to vit. D and since I don't have any colesterol?? (last time my doc checked it he said go get a big mac on the way home, I said that will just give me the s***'s!!LOL) SCREW the depression! forget the shrink, go get some TWINLAB MEGA TWIN EPA (fish oil) look it up on the internet you just need one per day, omega 3 oil, started a year ago, haven't been depressed once since, stopped taking all lithium drugs never felt better. For more info use a search engine with "omega 3 depression" YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR OWN HEALTH!!!!!!!!!!

May 27, 2005 Well after being low on zinc and Vitamin D for years with no help from suppliments I started tanning in a tanning bed at one of those salons and Vit. D was 6 the day I started, in one month it was 27, first time in 3 years it was in range, my zinc also came into range with it, must be some connection. HOW COME THE DOCTORS DON'T KNOW THIS??????

12/31/10  Well, they sure have messed this website up good, been here an hour trying to update this story, think I'm almost there!! Weighing in around 215 to 220 now, needed to stop the stick of butter I have been eating every day, I am full of energy and there ain't enough hours in the day for me!!

11/17/11 Coming up on 12 years, still going great, in the 210lb area steady now.
