In a nutshell, I've been obese since I was about 9 years old. I am now 29. That's 20 years of being unhealthy and unhappy. If you're reading this page I probably don't even need to explain the emotional trauma that comes with being obese at a young age. It only got worse as I grew up. Well about 2 years ago, I decided I was sick of it!!!
I was looking up RNY, but decided against it. Something about it just didn't feel right for me, although I know some others who have been successful with it. To top it off, my job would not even cover it at the time. Then last year, I started researching WLS again. (after yet another failed diet) My job agreed to start covering part of WLS. I ran across youtube videos talking about the Duodenal Switch. I never even heard of this surgery before. Why don't doctors/surgeons discuss it more??? Anyways, after researching, doctor visits, jumping through insurance hoops, delays, frustrations, etc, I'm finally having DS soon.
I've been through soooooo much these past few years, it will be so refreshing to have something good finally happen for me! Hopefully I'll be able to post many before and after pics very soon! Stay tuned!
