I need some words of wisdom :(

Nov 01, 2009

So there's a book that my surgeon requires we read, its called living a lighter lifestyle or something like that. And I was reading about the sleeve and it said in restrictive surgeries like VSG, the average patient loses only 47% of their excess weight. while i understand that that is more than i could lose on my own thats still less than HALF of what i need to lose. I'm wondering if it's worth it? I try to find people a year or more post-op VSG but they're hard to come by. I know that the VSG is for me because I dont want to rearrange my intestine, but i'm worried I won't lose enough to make that much of a difference.

I'm only 20 yrs old, 5'9", and 300 lbs. So I need to lose 130. I am willing to work hard to get off the last bit of what i need to lose, but it seems like such a huge surgery to have if it doesn't give me the huge results. I don't know, maybe i'm just getting cold feet.

Anyone know if my age will effect how much weight I lose? I don't have any comorbities or anything. (spell check?) so I'm otherwise healthy..

I don't know, i'm just worrying a lot.

If anyone can help that'd be great. thanks so much!

God Bless
