Happy One Year Surgiversary to me!

well, it has been one year since I had gastric bypass surgery.  It has been a heck of a year.  I am down more than 130 pounds, close to a 5 foot loss in inches and went from a size 28 to size 16/18, XL tops.

It came off really quick in the beginning...now has slowed to a crawl, but then I have some habits I need to tighten up on.  Like snacking and carbs.  And wine.  I started tracking my food again on FitDay.  What an eye opener.  It is so easy to add up those calories.

My goal now is to eliminate carbs again.  Snack on protein if I have to snack, which is bad, I know.  Another weird thing is feeling hungry.  I had 5 shrimp last night for dinner and woke up this morning feeling hungry.  It was my birthday yesterday and my friend brought over ColdStone cupcakes with lighted candles and it was great.  I made a wish, blew them out and didn't eat one bite.  my hubby and kid enjoyed them, though! 

I am still exercising, but not as much.  I wish the warm weather would get here quick.  Want to swim again and tighten things up.  I also need to start cooking more things the whole family will eat.  It is so easy to slide into the easy meals after work.

I feel great and am very happy with my progress so far.  I am paranoid that it would be so easy to gain again if I don't weigh and measure and track my daily food intake.  Thank goodness sugar is not my issue.  It is carbs.  I still eat no sugar except that naturally occuring in fruit. 

My energy level is so high compared to a year ago.  Marching all over disneyland from opening to close doesn't even wear me out.  I used to get tired just going to get groceries.  I love to walk now and am even going to try to start running a bit.  Things don't bounce like they used to. 

I am grateful everyday for this wonderful tool and realize it is not a miracle cure all.  The head demons don't get removed along with your stomach.  The bad habits don't get removed either.  I will stay mindful of these things.
