wo girls ages 6 and 16. They take a lot of my time and I enjoy all of it. In the last six months my life has changed drastically. I started a PhD program, a lifelong dream. However, my body started sending me messages that something was very wrong. I started habing the stairs in my house and walking through a store. My back and legs continue to hurt.

My doctor suggested surgery after many attempts to help me lose weight. I am at my hiht ever. I will be 40 in August and I consider the surgery a birthday gift to myself.
pport of my family, friends and coworkers. And a lot of faith that God will e through.

2/20/06 - Just another day in NJ

I've been thinking about the surgery more each day. I have so much support and that helps. I am so looking forward to another chance to take care of my body. I am trying to stay positive and not worry about the approval process. I have a few appts. in thenext few weeks to complete my package. My 16 year-old and me went to Mandee's this weekend and she made me buy a dress (size large, which I have not worn in over 16 years). It seemed like a silly thing to do, but she's my biggest fan and I did not want to seem pessimistic. It's quite a sexy number, even for me, but if someday I can wear it in front of the mirror, I'll be just fine.

Until the next time......

I am on the other side. I had my surgery on Friday and came home yesterday. The hospital staff at St. Barnabas was wonderful. I can't say enough great things about Dr. Bilof.

I am sore all over and very tired. I had an awful backache for a few days but that is getting better. My journey continues and I am HAPPIER THAN EVER!!

4/6/06
I went for my post-op visit today. I've lost 14 lbs. since the surgery! I am so happy. I am still feeling a bit tired and sore, but I am so glad I went through with the surgery.
