Hi my name is Apryl I am a 22 year old college student. I have been over weight all my life. I decided I wanted weight loss surgery about 2 years ago. When I told my mom about this she told me no. At the time I was only talking about lap band b/c one of my friends in my sorority had it and she had done well on it. This year I brought it back up and my mom decided it would be a good step for both of us. With my mom she will only let me do something as drastic as this as long as she is on the same page. She recently had her surgery by the same Dr. She has been my biggest inspiration. I have to do mine while I'm out of school so that's why i haven't had mine either. Well really there is a lot of factors that play into why I haven't had my surgery. School is one, but when I started this it was in the summer. Well me and my mom went to a seminar by our house and I decided I wanted Dr. st. Laurent to do my surgery. They said my insurance approved me, but my mom talked to the insurance and said I was not covered. Not only had I spent money on my neutron I had also payed for my psych evaluation. All this stuff was free for my mom. So after all this i decided to turn to the Davis's. The good thing is I didn't have to redo any of my pre-opt things again. I just had to go to one of his seminars and get my medical records to him and make an appointment. After all this they drew my blood and told me I was anemic. Now that I've been approved my surgery is on December 22ND. Right now my Dr. has me doing two weeks of protein shakes and water. It is hard, but it will be worth it. I will keep y'all posted on me and my mom. My mom started at 330lbs b4 surgery she was 301lbs. At her post opt she was 290. She says she can fit in my clothes. When I first go weighed I was 280 the last time I got weighed I was 270 so who knows what I will be when I get weighed b4 surgery.
