Babbs
Hi, I am 46, married, with 3 college age kids, too many dogs and a cat. I have been overweight all my adult life, and most of my childhood.
Changes I've made:
Eating: I saw on Lap band forum to eat like your already banded. When I heard that, my brain said I can do that. So I have been limiting calories from 1000-1400. Also to cut down on carbs. I cut my Blood Sugar Meds by about 3/4. That is what makes me so ravenous. I was feeling shaky and jittery when I got hungry. As long as the Blood sugar # is ok, I can be a little hungry. And cutting down in this med makes it better.
Exercise: I've been swimming in my above ground pool, walk/jog for 30-45 minutes daily with retension exercises. One time years ago while lifting weights, I ruptured a disc in my back, and had to have surgery. This was a setback.
Attitude: I finally have hope that I will have energy some day, and feel like a normal size person. I am looking forward to getting my Lap-band and not being hungry while I'm getting there. Also any weight loss will be counted. Dr supervised diet loss, pre-op diet loss, and post-surgery loss. Every pound that comes off is one more pound I won't have to carry with me from now on!
