I have been a little over weight since I was in 3rd grade , although at that time I was really considered a little pudgy. I can remember being weighed in 7th grade PE , where they announced your weight out loud, I was mortified to weigh 120 lbs@ 5'7" - so much more than my smaller , shorter friends. That's when I remember thinking I'm fat. Now looking back I realize it was my body image that was the issue at that time. Then in High School that I gained about 30 lbs, and even though I look back & think ~ WOW! I would be so happy at that weight now~ but at the time I just felt really bad. I didn't really start gaining serious weight until I had my children. That's when the vicious cycle began ~ losing , then gaining more when I became pregnant again. After many , many years of Weight Watchers, Atkins, Nutri System, and other diets I never really seemed to be able to win the battle . So I decided, once & for all I'm going to do this now !  After checking out weight loss surgery and thoroughly researching the various types of surgeries available I decided to go with Laparoscopic Rny ~ Life's just too short to wait any longer! I have high blood pressure & arthritis starting in my knees, and could see that I may end up like my Father - w/ Diabetes type 2, high blood pressure, strokes, congenital heart failure , not to mention all of his other health issues. While my Husband loves me just the way I am - he too has many issues that have recently cropped up : High Blood Pressure, Type 2 Diabetes, High Cholesterol, and ended up having a triple bypass in June 2008 ! I'm hoping that he will follow by my example and perhaps come to the conclusion that this surgery would benefit him in many ways as well .  I remember a trip that my Husband, my Mother In-law & I took to Washington D.C. in 2001 ~ We went to the Smithsonian, which is fabulous but huge !  I was so tired , that I had to sit down for a few minutes  between each building. I was literally outwalked by my 78 year old mother inlaw ! ( Who by the way - played 18 holes of golf quite often until she recently broke her hip! Now she's going to try for 9 holes ! )  As for myself,  I'm looking forward to being healthier, &  more energetic  !  And hopefully able to walk many places without needing to rest constantly !
