2.5 Months Post Op
Jan 02, 2008
I am looking forward to 2008 being a year of health, fitness, and happiness! :)
Two and a Half Weeks Post Op
Nov 01, 2007
Well, I've finally made it over the hump and am now Post Op! Since my surgery on 10/15, I've lost about 30 pounds. I need to get over the scale obsession and stop weighing every day, but at this point I can't help it!
My ONLY complaint so far is that I have cotton mouth so bad. I'm hoping it's not thrush. I'm trying to drink as much as I can, so we shall see!
I was in the hospital for two nights, and my first day was the only day that I had pain medication. I never filled my prescription for my pain meds at home.
Overall, a very pleasant experience! :) Now I'm just ready for the pounds to melt off, and the energy to go to the gym daily! :)
Just 5 Days Away!

I am extremely excited for my surgery this coming Monday! It still doesn't feel real yet, but OMG is it ever!? I am so ready to start my new, healthy life.
I had my pre-op and hospital registration appointments yesterday, and all went well. Next, I'll be at the hospital at 6 AM Monday morning!
I am very confident in my surgeon, and in my choice to have gastric bypass. I look forward to sharing my successes! :)
Got My Approval!

When does reality set in? I have no idea. I'm not nervous at all yet. I'm sure it will hit me like a ton of bricks soon, but it sure hasn't yet.

Waiting... Waiting... Waiting
Apr 26, 2007
At my appointment, my blood pressure has gotten higher again, and my doctor was considering putting me on blood pressure meds, but he said we might as well wait since I'm only 2 months away from surgery.
I've lost 4 pounds from day 1 of going to my PCP for the surgery.. woop dee doo! lol I want to get about 15 pounds below 300 so I have that much of a head start towards 140. I think that is a realistic goal for my height and bone structure. I can't wait until exercise is more doable than it is now. Right now just bringing groceries inside feels like a workout.. *sigh*

All of the Possibilities
Feb 22, 2007
If you're bored... here are just some of the things I can't wait to do:
1) Travel somewhere on a plane and not worry if I'll be able to get the seatbelt around my gut
2) Ride a rollercoaster with someone next to me... not my own lil car
3) Climb stairs without having to pause.
4) Ride a bike without fear of losing the seat up my butt hahaha
5) Clothes shopping - not at Lane Bryant or Avenue - but at Abercrombie.. Nordstrom... etc..
6) Having designer items besides purses and other non-wearables
7) Sit on the ground without it being a chore to get up
8) Cross my legs... sit ladylike!
9) Be able to wear jeans and a tshirt and look sexy, not frumpy.
10) Look forward to going to the gym b/c I feel an effect, not dread b/c I think people are staring at me
11) Be more social instead of such a homebody.. I feel my size has caused much of my shyness
12) Tying shoes not being a chore
13) Sit on patio furniture and not have to hold the arms down when I stand up (or i'd take the chair with me!)
14) SMILE b/c I feel good about myself
15) Most importantly - have the energy to keep up with and enjoy my family!
Ok, That's enough for now - but there is so much more I look forward to. Being healthy is the most important to me - my mom is diabetic, and lost a foot due to the disease.. If I don't make some serious changes in my life, I'm headed down the same road!
I'm sure I'll blog more later - my mind does not stop running and this is a great way to get it out!
Til next time...
Laurie
