OVERACHIEVER? who? ME?

Nov 05, 2014

I attend regular "PEER to Peer" Support group meetings. There are several of us in the group that are friends, and I love this, It is important for me to have people that have gone through many of the same things that i am experiencing. I strongly encourage going to meetings, IF your Weight Loss Program offers these type of classes. It keeps it in your face, Something we often NEED.

On that note, Often when out Peer to Peer support group meeting is over, (they are held at 3 of the local hospitals here) Our surgeon and staff are in the next auditorium having 'weight Loss Surgery Seminars' for people interested in having surgery, who just have questions, people considering surgery.etc...So after our meeting, Some of Us from OUR group, who have HAD the SURGERY, walk next door, and slip in and sit quietly. The Doctor giving the seminar, knows and appreciates our interruption of his seminar, knowing that we will 'TESTIFY' for the surgery, giving our testimonies, Stats, and are willing to answer any questions that they may have....He introduces us, and we come up front and so on....

Well, when I told my Surgery date, August 25th,2014, and my weight loss of 58 lbs so far, my surgeon kept calling me "an overachiever"  WOW. I dont know about all that...but what a nice compliment from my surgeon. He told me on my last visit, my weight loss was more than expected...So, I just smiled....and I left feeling really good Tuesday night...I never thought of myself as an OVERACHIEVER....Just as a middle aged, obese woman, who decided to have WLS out of desperation...at least thats how i saw myself...I consider his comment, QUITE the compliment!
