As of today, I have lost a total of 143 pounds since my journey began over two years ago. I have been blessed with no complications due to the surgery and I am having a wonderful time shopping for myself for a change. I can remember the years before surgery that I would not shop for any clothes except for the things that I really needed because everything was so big! I am 5'3" and wore a size 22-24 and now I am wearing small in tops/jackets, 2/4 in pants/skirts and dresses. It is amazing...I enjoy wearing jewelry and wearing makeup again. It took a while for my mind to catch up with my head, but I feel like I can dress and look like a normal person again. I haven't been this small since I was a teenager. I will turn 53 next month. It is really strange to me that I am about the same size of my three daughters. They have always been very slender and it took me a long time (with them reminding me) that we can wear the same size. That is TOTALLY unreal for me.I am so thankful that I was able to have the surgery. It not only saved my life, but it helped give me a new outlook on life as well. If someone were to ask me, 'do you have any regrets?' I would definitely say "NO!"
If you are out there and struggling, hang in there and stick with the program. It will come off eventually. My losses were slow in the beginning, but I stayed with the program and the weight continued to come off, even after the honeymoon period.
I don't have any plans for more weight loss...just maintaining...I, like the rest of you, still have the horror of weight gain so it it is still 'one day at a time' for me...
