Hey guys I know its been a minute.  Well surgery was on the 18th and it appears everything went well.   I'm in some pain but its manageable with my meds.  One weird occurrence after surgery I woke up with swelling around my eye and cheek.  The explanation is that I spent time on that side during surgery and the air they pump inside traveled to my face....hmmmm.  I giving it until tomorrow and I'm going to need to see someone about this situation...LOL

I'm on my 3rd day of clear liquids and I'm having trouble getting enough in my body.  I had a sugar free popsicle and I was stuffed. My family is killing me today with the things that they are eating.  I'm not hungry but I would love the chicken and waffles that they decided to eat for the first freakin' time in their lives at home....are you kidding me...geez.....but I digress....this too shall pass

Ok....I'm back on the wagon ...sort of.....I have my optifast shakes through the day and then at night I have a regular salad or a chicken breast and vegetables.  I am losing but I want to get over the hump....more to come

 

So here we go....I have completely fallen off of the proverbial preop optifast wagon.  This is what I have learned:  I will look for any reason not to eat/drink this crap.  I have basically not eaten on days versus having any of the meal replacement supplements.  i am sabotaging my on success.  So I'm telling myself that I have to do it one day at a time, one meal at a time and I'm praying that God gives me the strength.

Ok.  I never realized until now how dependent I was on food and the feeling associated with food.  I have experienced some mild hunger over the last few days however the bigger loss is the time I spent planning my food intake with coworkers or dinner for my family.  Knowing that I would be having a meal replacement shake, soup or bar takes out the guess work and the obsessive amount of time spent thinking about what I'm going to put in my mouth.  What to do with the time????

Ok...so I start my pre surgery liquid meal replacement on 01/11/2013....  I know this will be the hardest 30 days of my life to date.  The crazy part of it ....Im a little excited...it feels real now.  Wish me luck!!

I finally got my surgery date and I am so happy.  Today in this moment I feel confident and ready. 

I just received my approval on 12/17.  I was disappointed in the lack of urgency that my insurance provider and dr's office seemed to have as it related to getting the inpatient part approved.  I finished all of my testing on 11/6th.  My doctors' office stated they sent everything off on 11/12.  On insurance company states they didn't get anything until 11/30.  They then played phone tag for about 3 days over the correct codes to use.  Mind you the surgery itself doesn't require pre-approval only because it requires a hospital stay.  Absolutely frustrating.  With that said....YEAAAAAAAAAAAA  SUPER HAPPY!!  I hopefully with have a date on 12/28 when I go to the drs office.

Clearance from psych and EGD is clear...waiting on my approval from my insurance company......YEAAAAAAA

So the cardiologist cleared me for surgery....next step EGD.....and then .....DATE!!!!

So I met with the dietitian on Friday and I was so excited to find out that I am doing all of the things I need to do prepare myself for surgery.  I am hoping that me starting my liquid diet sooner will eliminate some of the liver shrinking time later.
