I have been overweight since I was 8. I have never really thought about gastric bypass until my endocrinologist mentioned it to me. This was back in August of 2008. I guess maybe I had thought of it but just couldn't picture having it done. My father passed away June 27, 2008. I think this helped me make my decision. I knew I no longer had to take care of him which would allow me to take care of myself. I know I need to do something about my weight, and thus I began the journey. It has been quite a journey. Every time I went to see my surgeon I got more excited about having it done and what the outcome would be. I just never thought the journey would be as difficult as it has been.
