I weighed myself today and I am 232lb... So I am coming along trying to get to 160lbs keep me in your prayers!

I weighed 287 preop lost 35 pounds in 2 weeks I now wiegh 252 I had some complications after surgery I had a leak and a collapsed lung but GOD was on my side  I am doing much better now still on full liquid tryin to loose as much as I can on full because the dr said i will loose slower this time around.

7/03/01 hello all my name is charquis i live in miami florida i am 23 years old 5'4 275 lbs i am single and i have a 5 year old son and looking forward to seeing my grand children children graduate and in order to be able to do that i know it has to be with the help of WLS and of the grace of the almighty GOD i am glad to have found this group full of gods children giving support to one another i look forward to being on the other side like many of you i have been researching for about 5 months and i have made up my mind this is for me when your child tells you that being this big is not healthy for you it tends to help you make that choice of a thinner healthier life i have tried many diets over 8 and i always gain more than i lost i have a family history of high blood pressure and diabetes i dont want to add my name to that list so i have to do something i have been big since i was 12 and been dieting since 14 i look at all these success stories and it brings tears of joy to my eyes to see so many happier faces in this world i have been depressed lately because of my wieght i have just stopped going to the mall cause it hurts to see things u cant buy because they dont have your size so my recent days have been spent behind this computer talking to people about this surgery i have learned a lot in these few months i am considering the bpd/ds if i can find a doctor who does it if not the lap.rny will be fine just keep me in your prayers feel free to email me i would love to hear your advice and encouragement and your jorney to a thinner life.

7/24/01 well i have my first doctors appt with doctor nestor de la cruz-munoz tomorrow july 25,2001 at 4 pm keep me in your prayers i still dont have an angel yet so if any wants the job i will be happy to have you well i will update and let u know how it goes.

07/25/01 went to doctor de la cruz office it took me an hour to see him but when i did he seemed really nice young but nice he has only been doing surgery for 2 years but he work with dr byers for 3 years i asked him every question in the book he seems to know a lot about the surgery so i will put the rest in the hands of the good lord now i am waiting for my psych referral and insurance approval keep me in your prayers yall.

7/26/01 u will never guess what happend today i was searching amos and came upon someone who had lap with dr trevedi i had previosly called to find out what ins they take and they said they didnt take medicaid but when i seen the name again something said call it again i called and he accepts medicaid it seems he just moved into a bigger office by himself and i made an appt it was for sept 31 i was talking to the lady saying gosh he is busy and she cut me off saying how old are u i told her 23 she said i can get you an appt for aug 14 if u would consider having your surgery done on mtv i said sure she said he will have to interview me to see if he wants me for the job so i got in early to see him and i have talked to a lot of his patients on amos who highly recommends him thank u jesus! even if i dont get on mtv i will still be moved up closer on the list so this doctor has to be experienced if he is going on mtv to do the surgery huh? god works in mysterious ways and i believe he has a plan for me i always wanted to be on tv in a sitcom or something maybe if this happens it will open up many more doors to success please keep me in your prayers.

7/30/01 well guys today i got bad news from my pcp i have diabetes and very very high colesteral i was cryin all day i have an appt to pick up my meds tomorrow but this might be gods way of helping me get my insurance approval well pray for me and i will keep u all posted.

8/06/01 well i went to my psych evaluation today and the doctor said that i am depressed i was like "duh i am 145 lbs over weight just found out i have diabetes and hi colesteral u think that may be it" now she wants me to go to therapy for a month befor she gives me the refferal now you know i was upset another hurdle to get over i was scheduled for therapy 4xs a month and i got another refferal on sept 4 yall keep me in your prayers that i get this i have a consult with the surgeon on the 14 of august hope that goes well. til next time yall.

8/20/01 i went to dr t at 930 but i wasnot supposed to be there until 1:30 so i filled out the papers and left came back at 1:30 i see what they mean about him being real serious i was not scared but i did think about it really hard and came up with the same solution that this is the best thing that i can do to help my self live a happy healthy life my mom came with me and she is now considering the surgery hope she does it i think she will help me through and i will help her he said i needed a pych referral but he said he wanted it from his pych i have my own i hope he takes her ref for me because i cant afford to go to his pych if he does not take my medicaid that is my only concern i call kathi tommorrow for a second appt and i need to get a ref from my doctor for the dietian and then i play the waiting game keep me in your prayers guys bye ps i also leave for new york on wensday i will be back by sept 4 i will try to read my emails out of town if i can pull my self out from my grannys arms lol

10/06/01 hey guys i just found out that my insurance doesnt pay for diettian so i have to come up with 130 bucks for the first visit and 50 every month for eight months pray for me because i dont have the money and my dr appt is on the 30 of oct and i need to see the diettian berfore then or i will have to wait to 2002 for another appt with the surgeon.

10/12/01 well i went to the dietian payed my money to hear nothing i eat is right so im on a pre surgery diet of 1200 cal.
i found out i no longer weigh 275 i weigh 290 so i gained 20 pounds since the pic below i cant wait til i go to my second visit i also go to the pcp on oct 22 so i will have my preops done and hopefully i will be on the other side by christmas or at least before pray for me yall later;)

11/14/01 ok happy dance i got a call from the doctor asst kathy just told me that my insurance called and said they do cover the surgery but they have to fill out a form and mail it back with all papers they ask for it all will take 4 weeks to come back but i am happy to know they approved people for the surgery now yall help me pray that i am on of the people they approve later yall god bless!

12/04/01 last night i went to the support group meeting and after the meeting the dr assistant kathy told me she got a letter from the insurance co and they said my claim was missing signitures so the doctor has to sign it and send it back thru the mail so it looks like i am still waiting i hope they dont put my claim back at the bottom of the pile because of the missing signiture its been 3 weeks so far please pray for me because i need it so bad right now i am a wreck but i was put at ease with one thing i was told in detail what to expect before and after surgery in detail by the doctor so i dont feel scared about that as much but the insurance co is making driving me nuts. god bless

12/18/01 well alot has happend since my last post i had a accident one day after my sons b day we are ok but im a little sore medicaid is trippin now they saying everything we filled out was the wrong paper and will send out another paper to fill out that means more waiting i am kinda calm about it because god may not come when u want him but he is ALWAYS ON TIME / i have been wanting a lexus rx300 for the longest but i dont like payments just have not had any money to buy one maybe god is making a way for me to get it, my car (acura)is still driveable with a little hit in the front and back and they are saying it is totaled and is writing me a check for the value of the car i am going to sit back and wait on the lord and he will lead me thru the storm. please keep me lifted up in prayer god bless

03/20/02 The big day has arrived. On this morning Charquis checked in at 7:30am for surgery. Little to her surprise her surgery was delayed 6 hours. After sitting there for a few hours she began to panic and the nurse had to give her something to calm her down. After all that she was ready for surgery at 2:30pm. The surgery was a success. All went well for her and she was up and about at around 9pm. But for now all is well and in she is in good spirits.

3/28/02 296-24=271 hey guys i posted on the 26 but it didnt work so here goes a quick update i was in the hospital for 4 days 2 in icu 2 in a private room i was not in any real pain just sore a little and had gas pains from hell the key to get rid of it is walking and ben gay lol my best freind my mom brought some to the hospital for me i went home on sunday evening went walking thru the mall with a friend then monday the first day of clear liquids i sipped to MUCH and irratated my pouch and threw up all day the doctor told me to wait and start sipping the next day and come and see him on thurday the 26 i did and found out that i lost 13 pounds in 6 days WOW great huh i cant tell though i have been walking half a mile a day since thursday and sipping much better now doing fine if i had to it all again i would and would encourage any one who is thinking about doing it.BUT it is only a tool not a Miricle Surgery if any one has questions email me no matter how dumb u think it is the only dumb thing is not asking questions PS CHECK OUT MY WEB SITE SOON FOR PICTURES POST OP. later

04/01/02 261 lbs hello every one hope you all had a happy easter i did well today i went to a dr t appt at 8:30 this morning
i have lost a total of 23 pounds in 12 days WwoooHhoooo i wieght 261 from 296 the dr moved me to full and if i can tolorate it by thursday i can start soft foods i wish i noticed the weight loss i still look like i am preop well to me my mom and family starting to see it in my waist

4/7/02 257 lbs I went to the dr office just to get weighed i only lost 4 lbs i felt really bad like i was cheating or something i guess because i started eating soft food now my personal goal was 250 by my b day which is tuesday april 9 so send all your happy birthdays my way lol

4/09/02 today is my birthday i am 24 years old and i feel great looking good to i went to get a pair of capris to where on this special day and i could fit a 16 WOW it was strech but i could not even fit strech 18 preop so the surgery was the best present i could give my self couple of friends took me to dinner i ate baked chicken leg and some cabbage and had a good time. watching every one eat was not as bad as i thought we took pictures so i will get them developed and post them soon as i get to some ones house with a scanner.thanks to god for letting me live a wonderful 24 years and to all those who emailed me happy b day wishes

07/09/02 hello i know i have not been updating like i am supposed to i dont have aol any more so i come to the library i am down to 220 pounds feeling great my surgeon dr trivedi left florida so i have to find a new doctor loosing kinda slow maybe when i get a new doctor it will pick up i will try to get a picture up soon i promise i can now get into a size 14 /16 hooray to those just starting out be patient the weight will come off and to those waiting on approvals keep the faith pray and what god has for u is for you i will do it again if i had to in a heart beat its worth the risk i have a whole new life now i feel much sexier and i am healthier too

08/09/02 hey peeps i am down to 211 pounds i switched to dr rosenthals office at the clevland clinic in weston fla he is great i had blood work done and i have low iron he gave me some meds to pick that up other than that i feel great congrats to all the loosers and to those waiting if its meant it will come trust in the father because thru him all things are possible. keep me in your prayers luv ya hope fully i will be out of the 200's by the end of this month

hey yall i am not doing well at all moving slower than a wounded snail with the weight loss please pray that i get out of the 200's by september 20 i am so depressed its a shame any advice will be helpful on how to speed up the weight loss nothing i do is working.

10/14/02 hey yall thanx for the prayers my flight was nice i took an earlier flight so i got here at 6:00pm sunday my aunts and grandma was screaming at how good i look my cheecks hurt from all the smiling it feels great to walk up to your family and ask for directions and them not know who you are for a good 60 seconds its cool comparing to florida but i can hang with it i plan to meet my friend shawna who also had the surgery to and before i left i weighed in at the publix and it said 194 so thats another two pounds gone will update later
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~11/08/02 hello all i had a not so good trip i was in the bronx lebanon hospital for internal bleeding i dont know from where but they kept me for two days it must have stopped because they couldnt find where i was bleeding from thank god thats over i did get a visit from my good friend shawana she came to the hospital to see me made me feel better she looks so good i am proud of her we couldnt hang out because soon as they let me out i went to the airport and came back home i am 192 lbs and the only thing im loosing is my hair any remedies on how to stop that let me know til next time yall. o and congrats to the new losers and ones who just got approved i would do it again if i can may god continue to bless you all keep me and my family lifted up in prayer.

012/03 187 Happy New Year to all Thank the Lord! We made it to another year in one piece. For the first time ever I kept my New Years Resolution and that was to loose some weight.it has been 9 months and 12 days and i lost a total of 110 lbs Praise God!!! I often wonder what would i be weighing now if i didnt have the surgery i will post a picture soon take care all and good luck on your approvals and weightloss you all are in my prayers and please keep me in yours.

02/10/03 Hi PEEPs i am down a liitle more now i am 183 thank the almighty God i know its slow but as long as it keeps going down instead of up i went in for a consult with the plastic surgeon and i am now waiting approval for that so keep me in your prayers if any one had plastic surgery approved with medicaid please email me and let me know what you had to do and how long was the wait.

03/05/03 hello to all of you i have not lost much i am almost a year post op so i expected this but i want to be 160 i have not really been workin at it but when i get my plastic surgery the doctor told me that i will be at 160 so i am not really stressing the weight loss because i dont want to be to thin i am told i look like i am 160 already and i am 182 so at 160 i should b a size 8 because i am 11-12 and i have a lot of excess skin now so when that is gone i should be in at least a 10 keep me in your prayers and i hope i encourage you who needs it email me any time

03/20/03 Hello all i am still waiting for my approval for the body contour and i am happy that i made it to one year old thank God i have had no problems keep me in your prayers i am stuck at 180 hoping after the body contuor i will weigh 160 my personal goal weight.

08/19/03 hello people i am home from surgery i had my tummy and breast done first on september 11 and i feel great i will get my arms and legs done after my 6 weeks of healing thanx for the prayers i dont know how much i weigh now because i am still swollin but will keep u updated o and to jennifer smith i lost your number and could not find your house call me as soon as you read this ps i will post pics soon i promise my tummy is so flat i cant believe it and i only had it done days ago

2/23/06 hello all i have had a lot of things happen in my life first i met a guy and we got married and i am expecting a child on march 30/06 i have gained weight and been really depressed since i had the tummy tuck and breast done and to get pregnant a year later i am now 230 and that was my start off weight when i got pregnant so the good news is i didnt gain a single pound my doctor says i am fine and healthy the baby is to and he says that i should loose 30 pounds after the baby comes and i will breast feed so i hope to drop down to 170 with a little help from my daughter i have also moved to georgia for a new start in my new life hope all is well and keep me in your prayers god bless mrs charquis Jackson
