Next Surgeon's office visit tomorrow!

Sep 12, 2007

I will be going in to see my surgeon tomorrow at 9am.  I'm very curious to see how his reaction will be when he discovers I have lost nothing in almost three weeks.  I wonder if he'll do another fill.  I'm not making any progress with the fills I have.

I lost 30 pounds, in the beginning, the first six weeks, and then nothing!  It's very hard not to think that this is yet another diet failure, but I've been told by others on this site that sometimes it takes awhile to figure out what will work.

I hope so, because this does not feel good at all!  I hope I have good things to write come Thursday morning.

PS I thought I should tell you about my fills so far.  I received a 4cc band.  My first checkup with my surgeon they were all happy with my weight lose and said it showed I was commited.  whenI came in for my second check I was up two pounds and he gave me a second fill.  They said even though I had gained two pounds I was still doing well.  They said a 8 to 10 pound loss a month is good.  Well, here I am about three weeks from the last visit and no weight loss.  In fact I think I may have gained this last week.  Should be interesting.  (So I have 4cc band.  I have had two fills at 1cc each time.  My band is half full.  Humm.......

The Second Fill (8-23-07)

Aug 24, 2007

I had my second fill yesterday.  That brings me to 2ccs.  I feel a lot better about this process, because at only one cc I could hardly tell the difference!  I was beginning to think maybe the surgery wasn't going to work out for me, but I realize there are a lot of us banders who are a wee bit impatient.

So today was great.  I had very little hunger and that's always been my down fall when I would diet before.  I would get tired of denying myself for long periods of time.  All it would take was a little cheating and I would just gain like gang busters!

So now I have hope and I realize more than ever that this is a process to get where the band works for a person.

I'm so Happy!

The surgery is behind me now.  I can hardly believe it.  My experience was very good and I healed quickly.

My first fill was yesterday (1cc) and it may have felt strange to have someone poking around in there, looking for the port, but he found it quickly and there was no pain.

I am scared if this is going to work for me.  I've heard that's a common feeling so I don't put a lot of importance on it.  I just hope that this is finally an answer for me to get this weight off and keep it off.  I know I have to work it.  I think as I see more weight come off, I'll be more motivated.  I sure hope so at least.  I'm walking, but I'm not really working up a sweat.  I want to loss a little more before I go to the gym.  I have a lot of joint problems, esp.my hips and back, so I'm careful not to injury them by doing too much too soon.

My weight is 206 right now.  I'll let you know how I'm doing.  Yikes!

The Waiting Game

Jun 13, 2007

Oh, I can't wait till June 29th!  That's when I go in to get my Lap-Band surgery.  It feels like a long haul since I decided to do this.  All the medical tests and meeting with a dietian and having a pyche evulation.  But it looks like it's going to happen.  I just started my pre-operation diet, protein drinks with a little food.  Not a big deal I've been on a diet as long as I can remember.  I can do diets, but not forever.  I'm hoping the band will help me with this.  I have a very difficult time losing because of all the diets I've been on.  We'll see.......
