Waffleking Returns!

Dec 09, 2011

Hey everyone!  It's your old pal the Waffleking back with a new username and an update on my sleeve adventures!  I finally was able to pop back in here and it's great to see some of the old timers still around and all huge amount of new people since I was last here! And of course, all my friend's amazing progress. You all look amazing!

For those who don't know me, I was sleeved on 4/15/11 so I'm almost 8 months out now. This place was instrumental early on prior to my surgery and after.  I had a blast posting here, joking around, receiving help and providing it as well.  Due to some things in my personal life (I split from my wife prior to surgery, moving into a new place, work drama, etc...) things got to be a little much and I felt it was best to take a break from here and focus on what I needed to do for myself and my two wonderful kids. Knowing me, I knew I would just come back here and avoid stuff I needed to do so I deleted my old account, not realizing it would be gone and I could not reactivate!  In retrospect I wish I hadn't because all of my weight tracking is gone. But oh well, that's the way the waffle crumbles!  Anywho, I'm in a way better place now and loving my new life so here I am with an update!

I just had my "six month" check up and all of my levels were spot on.  My blood pressure and cholesterol are beyond awesome and getting better all the time. The one area of improvement was that my B12 was a tad low so I'm going to be taking a supplement for that. My iron was a little high and of course the protein intake can always improve. I find that the more protein I get in, the faster the weight comes off too (that's my tip of the day for the newbies!)

As for my weight, I'm below the goal set for my doctor's office and I'd like to lose maybe another 5-10 lbs and just float around there for maintenance.  Maintenance has begun to weigh heavily (hahaha get it?) on my mind lately and I'm worries as one of the ones that didn't have to work very hard if I have changed the habits I need to in order to be successful long term.  However, I have found an amazing support group headed by Diana Vogel who is a great therapist who had RNY and she specializes in all the crazy mind trips you go through with WLS. It's a small group setting and you can talk about your issues and and she gives you stuff to work on. I would recommend it to everyone down here in the So Cal area. Here is a link to her facebook page:

So all in all, life is good. I love my new place, I love my new body (loose skin and all) and I have ZERO regrets.  If you are on the fence and reading this, get the sleeve asap!  As it is often said, my only regret is not getting it sooner. So I think that is about it for now. It's nice to be back in touch with OH again
