ANNIVERSARY WEEK - JUNE 19, 2009

Jun 22, 2009

Wow!!! It has been 3 (three) years since that beautiful day in June that I reclaimed my life.  What an experience.  I must say that having WLS was one of the best decisions of my life, I still believe that.  OH has helped me in so many ways to stay on course.  Even when I have stayed away for a while, I come back and still feel like part of the family.  People are always willing to share their stories of success and struggle.  This teaches me to do the same.  I have lost 150 lbs for good.  There has been a slight creeping up these last few weeks, I have started fertility treatment (another dream my WLS is helping me to accomplish) and I believe the hormones are causing the weight gain.  I haven't changed my diet so I dont think that's the issue.  (I'm talking a 3-5lb weight gain that goes up and down every day)

However, for me these 3 years have given me a self-confidence I never knew existed.  I was also able to influence my husband to consider and decide to change his life for the better, too.  October 6, 2008, he had his RNY done and has lost  110 lbs already.  Our lives are so much happier in the sense that our biggest conversations do not surround medical issues, doctors appointments and medicine.  We actually plan our lives, future and the family we want to have.

I thank Jehovah daily for the successful outcome we received. I thank Dr. Magnuson for his skillful hand, and I thank Obesity Help for the support that I needed throughout, and still need to stay on track.  (I love the TTC forum what a great support!)

I hope anyone considering surgery will know that this big decision is not an easy one, the follow through isn't easy, but every sacrifice is rewarded ten fold!  Choose wisely!!!
