So had my pre-op appt yesterday with my doctor and now I am confused about my surgery. Dr Burch recommends for me to have the gastric sleeve instead of the RNY due to my family history of stomach cancer. My dad was DX with stomach cancer about two yrs ago (which he is doing great now) and we belive my dads mom died from the same thing He says that because everything right now is fine with me but if when I get older it will be really hard for me to get screen for stomach cancer. So now I don't know what to do. I am afraid of the sleeve because I know that I am a big sweet eater and that is why I had chosen the RNY. I know that the sleeve will probably be the safest way to go but I am just scared.
