Hi, my name is Jill and I'm 45 years old. I actually started researching weight loss surgery about 6 years ago, I was at a different job with different insurance and was not approved even after an appeal letter. I decided that it wasn't meant to be. About 2 years ago I decided to check into it again, well the quidelines to be approved were so strict that I knew that I would not qualify so once again I just thought it wasn't meant to be. Well on August 29th of 09 I checked into my insurance again which was Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois and saw that the guidelines were not as strict as they were in the past. So after 3 months of a supervised diet under my primary care physician and a few other quidelines I had to meet on December 10, 2009 Dr. Van Wagner's office submitted to my insurance company for approval and I found out on December 29th that my insurance approved me to have laproscopic gastric bypass surgery. I was so excited, they actually told me that I was approved on December 22, 2009. So in less that 2 weeks the insurance company approved me. I still can't believe that this is actually going to happen. I have not set a date yet as my surgeons office is closed for the holidays, but what great news to end the 2009 year and what a great way to begin 2010.
