I have decided after much thought and research to switch my choice of surgery's from Sleeve to Gastric Bypass.I just am not comfortable having 90% of my stomach removed. I sent an email to my Drs. office this morning and hopefully the insurance company will approve this change and not take forever to make a decision.

Hi I am currently waiting for my insurance company to approve my WL surgery. I pretty much was set on the Sleeve procedure because I thought the Bypass was "too radical" with the resectioning ect. Well after more thinking the Sleeve is even more radical and permanent with the removal of most of my stomach. I thought what if I develop stomach cancer in the future? Is there a chance I would end up on a feeding tube to get my nutrition?? So now I'm so confused and unsure of what I'm going to do. I'm hesitant of the Bypass because of the "dumping syndrome" and no sugar, and vitamin deficiencies. I also don't know if I change to the Bypass if the insurance company will need another 2 months to consider it? I've been waiting for like 7 weeks for the ins company as they have requested additional information twice which each time delayed their decision. I'm on a 900 calorie 95 grams of protein and low salt diet for like 3 weeks now. Have lost about 30 lbs (don't weigh myself) so far and did away with my insulin, and actos for Diabetes. Dr. Patterson from Oregon is my surgeon and I thought the surgery would have been finished by now. Any thought would be appreciated. BTW I want to loose another 100-110 lbc and I'm 57 yrs old.
