I am a 31 year old never married Physician Assistant with no children that has always been overweight. I have fluctuated from the lower end to the higher end of the spectrum but I have never known what it's like to be thin. I hear people treat you differently. I have been researching WLS for a long time now and am finally getting to a place where I feel like I am ready both emotionally and financially to have the surgery done. My brother had Roux en Y gastric bypass several years ago and had great success with it, so I am hoping I am as lucky as he. I am hoping to have gastric sleeve done here in the very near future. I go for my surgical consult/initial evaluations by the exercise physiologist, nutritionist, and surgeon at Foundation Bariatric Hospital in Edmond OK on July 10th. Yay! I can't wait to start the journey!! I have made the decision to do it and now I am becoming impatient. I keep thinking of things that could go wrong and prevent me from having the surgery expeditiously. I have been proactive and scheduled all the appts I can for the time being so I suppose the only thing I can do at this point is sit back and let the chips fall where they may!! Oh, and of course diet and exercise too!
