Just beginning my WLS adventure, not scheduled for surgery yet (still working on insurance and testing, etc.) but after dieting since the age of 11 on every conceivable diet, I have yo-yo'd my weight from "down & up plus" for so many years and now have several health issues.  So that is the #1 reason for my decision.

Having said that, my #2 reason is I'm tired of the weight being my excuse to hide and not to particpate in life - that sounds like an oxymoron but many will understand.

Actually my #3 reason is the MOST IMPORTANT - my best friend (like a sister to me and a daughter to my parents) Mary for 55 years passed away almost two years ago.  She was 2 months older than I am and we both yo-yo dieted since we were kids.  Mary had a heart attack but she was overweight and collapsed in a manner that shut of the oxygen supply to her brain and the paramedics couldn't revive her.

My last two years have been spent dealing with the grief of losing my parents, Mary and several dear friends the last 12 years.  Having come out of the fog thanks to my psycologist Dr. Wanda and best friend Tony has been the most wonderful experience and created a need in me to start researching WLS again.

That is when I read about the VSG for the first time and got more excited than I can tell you - because it seems like the perfect answer for me.  RNY worried me due to rerouting and malabsortion & the lapband concerns were limited WL and internal foreign object.

I can't wait for the next step in this adventure!
