My Time to SHINE

Mar 19, 2012

I began researching bariatric surgery approximately six months ago and have decided that I will go through with my decision to have the Gastric Sleeve procedure.  I have been battling with my weight for the past 26 years.  I have been on so many diets that have started out well allowing me to loose some weight, but I have never been able to maintain my weight loss.  I began seeing a weight control doctor in 1992, and over the years I have spent hundreds or should I say thousands on his program which included taking numerous diet pills throughout the day.  This too worked as long as I continued to take the medication and follow the plan but as soon as I would stop taking the medications, I would gradually begin to regain all the weight I had lost in excess.  Also, I began having some side effects for taking these meds for so many years of my life.  Not only has my weight caused me to suffer from some medical effects it has caused me to become emotionally upset as well.  I no longer look forward to spending time with my family and friends like I used to and I so desperately want that part of my life back.

I have a wonderful husband of three years and he has been more then supportive of my decision.  I truly look forward to being able to enjoy life after surgery.  I currently have 3 beautiful grandchildren and I look forward to being able to enjoy having fun with them as well.  I want to be able to take trips where I'm not so uncomfortable that I can't enjoy myself.

I have made the decision to have Dr. Jason Balette in The Woodlands to perform my procedure.  I have recently completed my visit with a psychologist as well as dietitian and have my pre-op appointment scheduled for next week.  I am very eagar to begin my new life as a thin person.  I want this to be my time to shine in my life!!
