Another wrinkle in my life

Aug 06, 2015

For the past 14 months I have known that my Leukocyte (white blood) cell count has been elevated. Numerous tests have been performed, and I now am under the care of a hematologist/oncologist for chronic leukocytosis of undetermined cause. It is more than likely a early stage of leukemia or another similar blood disorder. No treatment is indicated at this time, but they will continue to monitor my counts every 90 days unless I start to exhibit more systems. Just another wrinkle. Life goes on!

Seven Years

Aug 05, 2015

Some days it seems like only yesterday I had my BPD-DS, and other days it seems like an eternity ago. It was on a cold January morning in 2008 that I entered Baptist Hospital and began that new chapter of my life. I was almost 300 lbs. Today I sit at 240, and am still about 60 lbs overweight due to my own actions. I had lost down to 198, but due to an overindulgence in bread and starches, stress eating, and other factors I have gained back up to my current weight.

In a different strange twist, I have seemed to lost some height over the past years. I was 5'11" 10 years ago, now I'm 5'7.5". So of course when my height decreased, so did my weight to get to my ideal BMI . My target weight was 185, now it's 164. But I'm not giving up.

I was wearing size 14's, now I'm back in 18-20's. I want my 14's back...LoL. Looking for friends and fellow DS'ers. Hope to hear from you soon.
