"I admit I was leary of having my VSG here as I was all set to go to Dr. Alvarez. I was the first VSG patient for the local hospital but not for the surgeon; up to surgery day I was still wanting to chicken out and go to Mexico to Dr. Alvarez if only because of the sheer numbers difference. I am very happy I stayed with Dr. Heider. He is a very caring doctor who is very interested in how the patient is and you are not just another surgery to him. His staff is very nice - I was self pay so have no idea how they handle insurance issues with WLS. For what I paid I get a year of aftercare with him and Laurie the nurse/coordinator. He was very honest about all the risks, everything was discussed thoroughly and I would rate him very highly. He has a great bedside manner and a very competent surgeon. "
