My story starts back in Nov of 2004, I was 25 years old at the time weighed in at 274lbs, had several comorbidities and go the approval from my insurance company to have a lap-band surgery, which I did.  The weight slowly came off but I was able to lose about 100lbs and plateaued at around 175lbs, which was fine with me, I was a size 12, healthy, and I could shop in any store and find something to wear.  Late 2008 I noticed the weight slowly started to creep back on, but couldn't figure out why. Went to see my surgeon and after a barium swallow test, it was concluded that my band had slipped after 4 years. In Feb of 2009 I was 230lbs at that point from the slippage and did a revision surgery to put the band back into its original place. Subsequent months fills were done to tighten me up, at one point I had 3.9 cc of saline in, my band can only hold 4cc, and I still wasnt losing the weight I had gained from the slip.  In Oct 2009, my surgeon declared my band a failure and suggested conversion to gastric bypass or the sleeve. The week of thanksgiving 2009 I was converted from lapband to gastric bypass, and now my journey begins again........ stay tuned.....
