My story thus far...  After undergoing all the psych eval, pre-op testing and blood work; at 49 I'm finally willing and now able to have gastric sleeve surgery.  However, right now I should be in recovery but I had a last minute glitch in my pre-op EKG so the surgeon had to review my cardio work up. He called me personally yesterday and cleared me as fine for surgery but anesthesia would not take his word for it. They needed a cardiac clearance. So instead of surgery this morning I was at the Cardiologists having an EKG which turned out just fine (as I knew it would) and they cleared me for surgery. Now waiting till Monday for the office to call and re-schedule me.. I was so disappointed yesterday when I found out I was going to be delayed. After being on liquids for a week to boot!!  This is my journey thus far!

More to come!

11/26/2012 UPDATE!!  I was re-scheduled for surgery today.  My new date will be Friday, Dec. 7th!  I can't wait!  I just wish I didn't have to do the liquid diet all over again!

UPDATE AGAIN!  Guess I jumped the gun on announcing the 7th as my new date.  They called me back and scheduled me for the 14th of Dec..  So, all is clear and THIS Friday is my sugery!!  I'm getting excited about it now.  A girl that I had nutrition class with already had her surgery and she's already lost 25 lbs.  I know losing 25 would feel great about now!  Take care friends.  I'll post again when I get out of the hospital!

UPDATE 12/24/12 ARE YOU SERIOUS?!!

I went to surgery the 14th finally.  Was knocked out with some lovely medication.  Woke up sore and was give some pain meds in my IV.  Then I was told by my surgeon that he was unable to proceed with my surgery because me liver was too large to safely do it!!  What the?!!  This was after having done the liquid diet for the second time!!  My doc seems sure I will eventually get my surgery but I am sooo sick of waiting!  I have an appointment with another doc from the same group on the 7th of January.  Apparently he is going to give me a diet to try and get this liver down. They are going to do an MRI of it to try and keep track of the process.  Hmmm maybe we should have done the MRI BEFORE surgery to avoid me being cut open in 5 places and going through all this stomach muscle misery for no reason!  If I had gotten the actual surgery it would have been worth it.  The journey continues......
